FiredUp4Jesus Wrote:Nonsense?! Ha ha look it up! It's in the Bible...on second thought...(Ephesians 5:22-24) Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Hee hee... Plus all the commands in Genesis about subduing the earth.
Let's not get all riled up and turn this thread into another theological and/or world view debate, k? Christians have very different views on that passage (and the ones following... and really, I'm not at all sure there's a single verse where
every person who claims Christianity is in consensus.). If we start duking it out now, it'll likely just turn into a battle of dueling verses, and that really doesn't accomplish much. Each party goes away thoroughly disgusted with the other and still convinced of their own rightness. <-- I may or may not have been involved in something very similar to that in a different time and a different place... :p
Anyway.
FiredUp4Jesus Wrote:No I don't know the Botkins. Do you?
Nope, not really. They live near us though, and are friends of friends. They visited my church once, but didn't stay long enough for me to really meet them. I thought perhaps you might have been in town recently if you were friends with them; one of the sons - David, I believe - got married this past Saturday.
Ryoder, your story is always
so encouraging! Thanks for sharing!

and I really don't know why.
My parents had a lot of military friends. My dad was Navy. Maybe a recruiter talked about it when I was in my teens. No idea. There are mutilple places I could have heard about it when I was younger.
In fact I am more surprised that people DON'T know about it. When I was telling my friend about CLEP and Dantes, she went great guns and found out about this forum and all the places you can use CLEP.
So I thought everyone knew about CLEP and DSST like tests.
Unfortunetly for me, there are no ABET approved programs for what I want to do that allow for me to test out of a majority of my classes.
But I am using CLEP in the one college I am targeting to go to for a few of the electives. Any savings is good.

The PhD is going to take some time but atleast at NCU I really know what I am in for with the class format. Its the dissertation process that is a little concerning. I have made contact with a moderator at the other forum who has recently completed a PhD in business at NCU and he gave me some very helpful tips on writing a dissertation. Just knowing one person who has been through a program is very helpful and encouraging.
After all of this testing I want to see if I can start teaching computer programming and networking classes online or at one of the local private schools. I am passionate about wanting to help Americans to compete globally in IT so I think I would make a good IT teacher.

PonyGirl93 Wrote:All of you people conveniently stop at verse 24. In verse 28-29 it says "So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church." Doesn't sound like domination to me. Who, treating their wife like they want to be treated, is going to say, "Lady go make me a sandwich."
Hem. Sorry to completely hijack.
Ha ha ryoder cracks me up! Well anyway I just wanted to let you all know that I am totally NOT the pick a fight kind of girl. I totally agree that a man should love his wife like Christ loves the church! It is in the Bible after all. Plus I would definitely NOT appreciate my (future) husband (or any man for that matter) saying "Lady go make me a sandwich." But I don't think that is treating a woman like God says a man should. But if the Bible says to obey your husband like Christ then I would heave myself off the couch and make a giant sandwich for my hubby. (but don't quote me on it just yet)(since it hasn't happened) LOL and anyway Christ said you must lose your life to gain it. (Luke 17:33)
Ponygirl...I love all your posts and I am glad you stand up for what you think is right! I totally admire that. I hope you don't think I am trying to pick a fight with you or anyone for that matter. I love having friendly debates. It makes us firm in our beliefs!
Thanks for all the responses to this thread!
