I am also studying for this exam. As far as I know, there is no free practice exam. The getcollegecredit.com website has one you can download for $5 but I've heard it's not worth the time or money...
I'm using The Elements of Technical Writing by Gary Blake and Robert W. Bly, but I've heard that The Handbook of Technical Writing by Brusaw, Aldred, and Oliu is also excellent.
Rumor has it that this is an easy test especially if you have corporate experience, but also easy with just a few hours of studying.
And there are 101 questions that have to be answered in 2 hours. One of those questions is an optional essay question, so check with your institution to see if it is required.
Good luck, and next time, instead of starting a new thread, use the search feature to see if there is an existing thread on the topic you're wanting information about.

Im studying for this test as well - I have a tech handwriting book from the library (Elements of Tech writing), but from all I hear common sense and some business backround gets you mostly there on this test. Get a good handbook, but I don't think there is much you can really "study for"....

And I'm 100% sure it doesn't. It counts as humanities credit.
