Since TESC doesn't accept CompTIA any longer, I was considering enrolling at Excelsior
to get those credits and transfer them over. I have "Network+" and "A+" from CompTIA.
1.) Would this be an advisable alternative to get these credits
2.) how would that appear on my transcript at TESC

If you enrolled at Excelsior they grant credit for them if they apply to your degree or needed electives at Excelsior. It is unlikely you can enroll at EC and have them grant the credit and transfer it back to TESC (a technique known as "washing") since TESC would apply their policy to them. My ECDL transferred as electives on my degree plan for my business degree.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :

If you want some quick computer credits that will cost about the same as enrolling at Excelsior, you should look at KCTCS. They have courses which are preparation for A+, Net+, and Security plus. I finished the first two in one week each. They cost between $500 and $750 per course and provided the e-text free of charge. If you score high enough on the pre-test for the course you can go straight to the final. The enrollment process is a bit of a pain, but after that things go pretty smooth.
