Hopefully someone can help me out. My wife is a teacher and already has her Master's. Due to budget shortfalls, all salaries in her municipality will be on freeze for some time. Fortunately, she was told that if she gets 30 or more credits (in anything and not necessarily toward any degree) she can get a bump in pay. I was thinking about her taking as many FEMA courses as possible and putting that to a General Studies. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

30 course credits is another masters. She can take 30 FEMA credits in a matter of hours probably but they won't apply to anything. I would find out in writing what they are requiring because unless they are idiots they wouldn't leave a loophole of lower level FEMA credits for a pay raise for a teacher. If that is possible though then more power to you.

Oh they are idiots. Her principal told her she can take basket weaving and cheese appreciation classes, as long as she gets her gets her 30 credits. If she does take 30 FEMAs and does enroll at TESC, will they give to credits for those classes if she does not declare a major?

I am pretty sure they will transcript them and if not find one of the intermediary colleges that people have been using for sending them to Excelsior and you will be good to go.

You should just look into using TESC credit bank then.

In my state 30 credits can be grad credits or under grad credits. So she could get 30 in one subject area and become qualified to teach in that area also. Or she can just get credits in anything she really wants as long as the school district accepts them she should be fine. Someone on this forum got 30 credits done last summer and actually has a new job teaching english. I really do not think there is any need to open a credxit bank to place Clep or DSST exams in. They would want the transcript dierctly from the sources.
Schools in my state has teachers salaries at different levels also. BA, BA plus 15, BA plus 30, MA, MA plus 15, MA plus 30, CAGS, PhD. It a good way to get a raise.
