Hi I am new to this forum and have been lurking around for sometime. I found the info here very useful and so my big thanks to all the contributors here. I have a question regarding ACE credit registration. Is it necessary to register credits at ACE? Can one get credits transfered directly from sources like Straighterline, saylor, study.com etc. to colleges like Big3 or WGU?

In general, no. Some places like straighterline have partnerships with particular schools that can have credit transferred directly, but this isn't the typical way to go.
Plus, you should have it listed on your ACE transcript for longevity anyway. The business can come and go, but ACE isn't going away any time soon. Best to get it on there to avoid problems in the future. If you wait until you have everything you need on your transcript to the school and just send it once, it's only a $20 fee ($15 for any additional).

Straigherline will send your scores directly to the big 3 or WGU. For Study.com ACE credit you will need to register with ACE. Same goes for Shmoop. I don't think Saylor Academy will transfer ACE credits directly, but I've never used Saylor. CLEP and DSST can be sent directly to your school. UExcel tests scores are sent to your school on an Excelsior transcript for a small fee. I would think TECEP tests work the same way.
NCCRS credits have to be sent directly from the school. There is no credit bank.
Credit Sources:
Guilford Technical Community College (59)
U.S Army Training
ALEKS
Study.com
Straighterline
Shmoop
DSST
UExcel

Saylor and Study.com both have NCCRS recommended courses some of which are also ACE recommended. I believe Saylor might have a few that are NCCRS recommended only, not ACE recommended.

Thanks for quick response. ACE requires SSN or SID to register, as a non-US national on non-immigrant visa I don't have SSN but, I emailed ACE regarding SID number and the process to get it.
