Thinking ahead. If I am considering using PLA for a second bachelors at TESU, is it ok to do the activities as long as the PLA assessment is completed after the first degree is completed? For example I am planning to take 2 or 3 cloud related certification exam in the next few months that I feel would by more the adequate to PLA a course in Cloud Computing. If my degree is awarded in March, I do the PLA in April towards the second degree?

not to hijack your thread but I have a similar question.
I am about to get a BSBA Gen management and I am also contemplating a field in IT.
Has anyone else done the BSBA General Management + BS CIS?
Would I have to repay the 2000$ residency requirement?
BSBA in Computer Information Systems Degree Program
It looks like I would just have to redo the AOS so about 18 credits.
So 18 extra credits for this AOS is this correct?

From my understanding.. If you have general management, you can't get another AOS.
TESU March 2020 Graduation
--ASNSM Mathematics
--BSBA Accounting
--BA Computer Science
University of Alaska Fairbanks (December 2021 Graduation Goal)
--MBA (2/10 : 4.0)
I started this journey in the summer of 2016. I hoped to be done sooner, but I am still proud of the rate at which I have gotten my schooling done with respect to the many months of military training and deployments I have undergone.

Once you get a BSBA in GM, you're done. No more BSBA's can be awarded. In order to get 2 BSBA's, they have to be in specific areas (like CIS & Marketing, or Finance & Accounting).
Regarding paying the residency again, if you were to go for a 2nd degree in something else, TESU has been unclear about it. For certain, if you get the 2nd degree within a year of the first, then you're fine. What's unclear is what happens after the year is up (there have been different answers from different people there). So, I would always recommend that you not get your first degree until you're pretty clear on the 2nd, and know exactly what it will take and how long to get the 2nd. For example, if you know it will take you 14 months to get the 2nd for some reason, I would recommend waiting to apply for the 1st until you're within 12 months. Obviously, you can't finish the courses towards the 2nd degree, but you could certainly START them.

No, as it's still just a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Some people do the Bachelor of Arts in Computer Sciencethough

Per current policy for a second degree, no. but that could change in the future.

No. It's a minimum of 24 new credits for a second bachelor's degree.
Honestly, if you want both the BSBA's, I'd just do a second Area of Study on your current degree before you graduate, but it's not really needed. The Gen Man is a basic Business Admin degree, while the CIS is a slightly more specialized Business Admin degree. If you haven't completed everything, I'd just switch to it, as most employers are just going to see 'Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University'.
If you plan on pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, then you'd need the 24 new credits in the AOS,

So, one could do 2 associates and 2 bachelors on one residency fee if they are completed in the same year after applying?
We are all on the same side here, trying to better our lives....so let's get along and help each other out.
Learn a trade. Gain technical skills. Make money, then use this money to get a degree...if you have the desire.

BSBA:GM is the version with no specialization. IMHO, I think it's better to specialize. BSBA:CIS is basically BSBA:GM with a very light amount of IT in it. You can go for other BSBA specializations as well. When employers want a business degree, call it a BSBA degree. When employers want a CIS/MIS degree, call it a BSBA:CIS degree. Hiring managers for jobs that are more technical are not going to treat the CIS/MIS degrees as favorably as those who have CS, IT, software development, engineering, or other similar degrees. But if you are applying for analyst, management, or PM positions, CIS/MIS will be more favorable.
Don't graduate with the BSBA:GM. Switch it to the BSBA:CIS and graduate with that.

I am so close to be done with the general management degree though. banghead I have less then 2 weeks to have all courses finish and then I am just waiting to take the TECEP in the beginning of December. 24 extra credits = 9 courses -6 from teex so that woud be 18 credits. I have about 8 credits related to IT right now that I could use so that would be 10 credits I would need. I would need to take the SL programming and figure out how to get a database course
BSBA in Computer Information Systems Degree Program
gotta track down sanatones degree plan. Interesting dilemma

As long as the credits post after the degree is conferred. They then should count.

Just to clarify, you cannot get a second BSBA if your first BSBA is General Management.
And, if you wanted to get a BSBA in CIS and another specialization, then you have do it all at the same time, and you only need 18cr in the second AOS (12UL, 6LL). Rather than being a second degree, this is instead a double-major:
Two Areas of Study Within One Degree
Similar to declaring a double major, you are able to pursue a second area of study within your degree program. For example, you can complete a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in English â you would only need to complete the Area of Study requirements as outlined in the programâs credit distribution guide â because your general education requirements would remain the same (as opposed to pursuing a second degree, where you would need to fulfill another set of general education requirements). No more than 9 credits that are used in the first area of study may be used for the second area of study. All related required credits for each area of study, as well as all degree requirements, must be met at the same time. To pursue this, all you have to do is contact your academic advisor, and it will be added to your degree plan.
So you have to figure out what you want before you're ready to graduate. The good thing is that you may still be fairly close to a CIS and another AOS, and just need to figure out what that might be to get the most out of what you've taken. So, let us know what courses you've taken in the AOS and we'll see if we can't help you figure out a plan before you pull the trigger on the GM degree.
