TESU - New Certificates/Degrees (IT)!
#1
Hey, was just reviewing their webpage and noticed they've got a few more certificates and degrees!
I might be wrong, but these seem new to me - see below, everything seems to be in IT/Cybersecurity.

Undergraduate Certificate CyberSecurity (15 Credit) - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/Cybersecurity.cfm
AAS Applied Computer Studies - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/aas/Applied-Com...tudies.cfm
ASAST Computer & IT - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/asast/Computer-...nology.cfm
BSAST IT - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/bsast/IT.cfm

Graduate Certificate CyberSecurity (15 Credit) - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/Cyber-Security.cfm
MSAST IT - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/msast/
MS IT - https://www.tesu.edu/ast/msit/

I also have a question in regards to the BS Learner-Designed Area of Study
https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/bs/
https://www.tesu.edu/heavin/ba/Learner-D...-Study.cfm

I forgot all about this degree, but can it be used to combine two areas of study?
Such as having a BS with CS/CIS concentration without the use of the other sciences/restrictions?
I kept recommending BSAST with Technical Studies for individuals, but if this can be hacked...it's better!
I like the sound of a BS CS/CIS instead of just a BA CS or a BSBA CIS

Thanks for your information.

I was told that TESU won't give a designed AOS that is like existing areas.

The only things that are new are the certificates in cybersecurity. Most of those other degrees have been around for a long time. The BSAST in IT has been recommended before on this forum by myself and others. I know for sure that the applied computer studies program has been around from at least 2011, but it's likely older than that. The ASAST has been around at least for a few years.

TESU will not let you create an AOS that is similar to other degrees. TESU wouldn't even let me create a security management concentration because the courses I listed could be used in the CJ program.

I think the Undergraduate Certificate CyberSecurity is new (not even on the list of degrees/certs available yet), and the AAS Applied Computer Studies and ASAST Computer & IT are new to me as well.

The main problem with the AAS and ASAST is the cost - that pesky AA Capstone is going to cost you, adding another $1000-$1500 to the price of the already expensive TESU AA. I would get something like this just about anywhere else than TESU.

The Cybersecurity UG Cert is going to be expensive as well, even if you're an enrolled student. Only 2 of the 5 courses are able to be tested out of, meaning that each of the other 3 courses might be as much as $1000 each (using the Study.com affiliate membership pricing). That's mighty expensive for a certificate. You'd be much better off getting a Cybersecurity BS or MS instead.

I'm surprised that some people have never seen applied computer studies when it's been on the website for years. I almost selected that program. Here's a 2012 thread asking about it.

I can also assure you that the ASAST is not new.

I don't remember seeing them either, and I checked many times. Maybe they weren't on the list I was checking and the change is they added them to the list.

I didn't say they were new, I said they were new to me.  I guess I just haven't noticed them all these years.

They were listed on the online degree programs page.
