TESU Entrepreneurship BSBA
#1
Hi! Newbie here... I attempted to search my question(s), but didn't have much luck pulling anything up.

I'm curious...

Will any of the Big 3 take all my previous credits? (I have about 70.) Also, does it matter how old they are?

I'm also wondering how I can find out what courses are needed for TESU's Entrepreneurship BSBA... and what exams are available for this?

At the end of the day, I'm trying to see how much it'll cost to finish my degree.

So happy to have found this forum! I have young kids and had given up the idea of getting my degree. I'm an independent learner.. but that doesn't stop me from wanting that paper. Big Grin

I am also curious if there's a graphic design or fine art degree that could be obtained in this way? Thanks in advance!

All of the Big 3 will take previous credits, but not all of your credits may apply to every degree, so it's impossible to say which credits each of the schools will take. You could post all of your credits on here, and we could tell you what will probably fit into a degree plan at the different schools - include the course number, name, grade if less than a C, when you took the course, and where (4year college vs. community college).

Age of credits doesn't matter in most instances except for BSBA Area of Study or Computer courses, then it will be a little more limited - but you would be surprised at where the credits would all fit in.

Even grades don't matter much, except with English Comp I & II (or equivalent) which require a C, and your Area of Study, which may require a C or better. Not sure on EC and COSC on these, but I know this is true for TESU.

BSBA in Entrepreneurship

Lots of places to get any gen ed & business core courses, plus the following for Entrepreneurship Area of Study:

Small Business Management/Intro to Entrepreneurship - Straighterline, CSU-Global, Propero
Small Business Finance/Managerial Finance - not sure if Penn Foster's Corporate Finance will count for this, otherwise you'll have to take it elsewhere
Small Business Marketing/Marketing Research - CSU-Global has both (so 1 can count as an elective if you take both)

The remaining electives can be taken any number of ways:
Advertising - TECEP
Consumer Behavior - CSU-Global, Penn Foster, CSU-Pueblo IS
Human Resource Management - DSST, UExcel, Study.com, Propero, Ed4Credit.com
Cost Accounting - SL's Managerial Accounting, CSU-Global
Marketing & Product Innovation - CSU-Global's Strategic Innovation & Ideas?
Retailing - CSU-Global, Penn Foster
Purchasing Management - CSU-Pueblo IS
Sales Management - TECEP, CSU-Global
Supply Chain Management - Penn Foster, CSU-Global

+1, as dfrecore mentioned, the big 3 will accept numerous credits, it's best to find out what those credits are and plan ahead for possible course equivalencies.
You may want to skim through the Beginners Guide here or on the wikia page to get a sense of how online learning or distance learning works.

In regards to your graphic design or fine arts degree, if the liberal arts degree is all you need, the big 3 may be possible.
You can also take a look at Competency Based Degree programs as Hodges University Upower has that program you're looking for.
Digital Design and Graphics - Bachelor's Degree | Hodges University

If you would like to further your education beyond the Bachelors level, you may consider a BSBA and then move up to a MA.
Example is to complete your BSBA from one of the Big 3, and go for a Masters at Hodges U, MA Visual Communications.

The Big3 are known for generous transfer policies. If you look at the last line of my sig, you'll see that i was able to transfer credits that were over 30 years old. TESU took them all. If you post your credits, then all we can evaluate them, or you can simply apply to TESU and send your transcripts in and get an official evaluation, which I heartily recommend. It's very heartening to see a big chunk of your degree plan all filled in.

At $75, it's kind of a no brainer.

Thanks for all the great info! I've got to pull out my transcript and will post. I know when I was in school, I definitely focused on my core requirements to get them out of the way. I also tested out of having to take a math, so I'm not sure if that'll still be valid.

So, is it possible to get a BSBA in one thing and then go for the MA in graphic design? I'm just curious if it would have to be in the same line of study.

If your math course was tested out of at your school, and they gave you credit, post that. If it was tested out of another way (CLEP?) post that.

You can always get a MA in anything you want, no matter your BA - you just may need to fulfill some core requirements that you didn't have. For instance, a friend applied to med school with a Computer Science degree; he had gone back to school for a year to get all of his science prerequisites prior to applying (and being accepted). If someone has a degree in something other than business, and then wants to go get an MBA, there are some core requirements that they will have to fulfill before they can start the program (economics, statistics, management, marketing, etc.).

The beauty of competency programs is just that, if you are knowledgable in contents of the course and do well on assignments or exams to display that knowledge, you get credit for it. Just like credit by examinination, It's much easier, faster and almost always or most cases, be cheaper than the conventional or traditional way of getting credit.
