Excelsior College Transcript service

Has anyone used the Excelsior College Transcript service, and successfully had in fully accepted at a standard University? Alaska University has rejected most of my ACE credits from ALEKS so I thought if I had them transcribed onto a transcript maybe I would have better luck.

University's will still want to see the source, and Excelsior's (or others) transcript services don't hide where it came from. It simply collects everything in one place for easy presentation.

You can't launder your credits through another school to get them accepted somewhere, it doesn't really work that way.

If I were you, I would choose a school that would accept most of my credits. There are just too many to choose from, to instead choose a school that won't accept them.

It looks like you're getting degrees at TESU though, so I'm not sure why you're worried about another school's accepting them? I would just continue on with TESU.

Why are you going to Alaska University instead of TESU?

Otherwise I'd just suggest you choose a school like TESU that won't force you to throw 12 credits into the trash.

As others have mentioned, there is absolutely no way to repackage the ALEKS that will make it acceptable. Schools want the credits from the original source.

There's only one way to launder credits. That is if your community college system allows you a guaranteed articulation agreement with Alaska University. Absolutely 100% look this up. (If you can't figure it out let me know).

An articulation between your community college and your university is an agreement that your entire AA or entire AS will transfer as a unit. A block, a package. In other words, no individual credit evaluation. This allows a student to attend a community college with generous CLEP policy and transfer into an articulation agreement program that has a stingy CLEP policy- they all roll forward without evaluation. It's a beautiful thing.

So, the question is: IF your CC has this agreement in place, DOES it award credit for ACE work? If the answer is yes, you can move forward with that as an option.

Frankly, unless you earned your ACE credit in high school, this is the kind of thing you have to plan for in advance. Know where you want to end up so this doesn't happen again. I see TESU as your school in your siggy, so are you just exploring other options or have you already decided to change?

I left over 80 credits on the table that I couldn't transfer into my bachelor's degree. I spent a LOT of time working the system to make them fit, find a loophole, or just understand the process. In the end, it was monumentally cheaper and faster to start over. I replaced those 80 credits in 6 months for a few hundred dollars.

P.S. You wrote that the university has rejected "most" of your ACE credits- that's interesting. Can I ask what they accepted? There might be a hint in your answer that is helpful.

Thank you everyone who replied. I am working on a degree from TESU but would also like to get another from University of Alaska. I currently take Master degree courses from them, and will transfer these into MA in Northern Studies once my BA from TESU is transferred to UAA. They did except all of my language courses from LTI without any issues. All colleges and universities in Alaska are controlled by the University of Alaska system. With the budget issues here they have become more strict to get you into more classes they can charge you for.

Are you getting a second bachelor's or just working on the master's? If the master's, then individual courses wouldn't be transferred in, just the coursework evaluated as part of the admissions process. I just went through that to get into my Georgia Tech masters program, and they accepted me although they don't accept all of my credit sources in their undergraduate programs. If a second bachelor's then you're kind of stuck with whatever their policies are on alternative credit. Also be aware that different rules may apply for a second bachelor's. Some schools won't even award them.

BTW, also be careful with taking master's courses before you get your bachelor's. Some masters programs won't accept ANY courses taken before the bachelor's is awarded. Be sure your program isn't one of them.
