TESU BSBA Completion Suggestions
#21
I recommend take 3 all in one month - 2 at $200/month, additional course at $70/course
Diversity (3 hrs) - Study.com Intro to Sociology
Information Literacy (3 hrs) - Study.com Intro to Religion
Civic Engagement (3 hrs) - Study.com American Government
Then take your capstone the following month, you will be done in 4 months as I mentioned.

bjcheung77 mentioned a Study.com discount.  I see another thread on here regarding the discount, but it leads me to believe that I had to indicate the affiliation on my application for admission.  I have submitted my application already.  Is it too late to get the Study.com discount?  If it isn't too late, which course should I take via Study.com?

Diversity
Civic Engagement
Information Literacy
Lifelong Learning Strategies (Cornerstone)
Liberal Arts Capstone

It's not too late, but you will need to hurry a little. The current Study.com discount is a bit of an anomaly. When TESU increased fees the last time, their contract with study didn't allow then to raise the discounted fee at the same time. That suddenly made the discount very valuable. That contract expires at the end of June. After that, we expect the discount to go back to being a modest 5-10%. Meanwhile it can save you about $1500 if you take advantage of it. Enough that in your shoes I would keep my GI Bill for grad school.

So, first you actually need to be a study.com member and take a course there (you'll probably take two since you get two with each month's fee). Once that's done, call TESU and ask to have the affiliate status added to you account. That will waive Cornerstone ($300 saved), let you take the Capstone for $1098 ($500 saved), and pay only $1800 for the residency waiver ($700 saved). All for spending $200 on a month of study.com, which is a cheap way to get credit, anyway.

In your shoes, I would aim for a Sept graduation. You should start the capstone no later than May (I'd go earlier) and apply for graduation in June, paying the residency waiver fee then.
Thank you very much!!!! You answered my question - completely.  I wondered if I had to take a class first or vice versa.  Thanks again!

If you do this correctly, start on those 3 courses right away, finish them, then work on your capstone right away...
And if you want a chance to "graduate" in June, you need to start the March 2018 Capstone at the end of February.
Some people have managed to finish the course as it's the final one and evaluated, then graduate by then...

Ok and it appears as though Study.com will not help me.  My Veterans contact at TESU has been trying to help with gaining a discount on the Residency Waiver.  My advisor really has been fantastic!!! Looks like I need to move forward and pay the fees!  There is no reduction in fees for veterans, apparently
This is the response she received and she is not happy about it, nor am I:  Sad

Actually, she is not a Strategic Partnership student.  She currently coded on our system as VOAPP, which means she is already leveraging a Military benefit for pricing.  She is unable to leverage that pricing AND the pricing of the Study.com (or any other) partnership.  She is unable to switch source codes to do so.  As a result, she will owe whatever residency pricing is affiliated with the VOAPP pricing, of which I am unaware (assuming you military would be?).

That said, she can credit any Study.com courses she’s taken toward her degree.  She just cannot use the Study.com pricing.

Please feel free to communicate this back to her, and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you!
 -------------------------------------
That said, I hope it makes sense to you – the Residency Waiver cost for your current student type is $2500. Huh

Sorry it’s not better news!

Did she actually take any courses or use the military pricing in any way? If not, I would escalate and try to get it changed.

OK, here's the deal. The military pricing is great IF you can take TECEPs to make residency. Here is how it would go down as I understand it:

Military pricing - pay residency waiver:
Cornerstone $300 (push back on this. Other folks got it waived when they transferred in more than 104? credits)
Capstone $750? (website says $250 per credit)
Residency Waiver: $2500
Graduation Fee: $332

Total: $3882

Military pricing - take TECEPs:
Cornerstone $300
Capstone $750? (website says $250 per credit)
12 credits in TECEPs: $468 (website says $39 per credit)
Graduation Fee: $332

Total: $1850

Study.com Pricing:
Cornerstone $0
Capstone $1098
Residency Waiver: $1800
Graduation Fee: $332

Total:  $3280

So, you can use TECEPs to get those last three GenEd courses, plus take one more just for residency purposes and get things cheaper. Sounds like the way to go.

I think military has to take 24cr for residency.  So that would be 8 courses, at $936, and that would replace the residency waiver, so it's definitely cheaper to go this route.

And yes, you can avoid paying the cornerstone if you transfer in a bunch of credits, but honestly, it's not the worst thing in the world to have to deal with.

I would stick with the military affiliation discount, and start taking TECEP's sooner rather than later.  Take an easy one first to lock in your pricing.

Thanks dfrecore, I had forgotten about that difference. Still cheaper, but will take her more time and effort. Also, I think it's only 7 TECEPS for $819 (21 x $39) since the Capstone counts towards the 24 credits. So to revise:

Military pricing - take TECEPs:
Cornerstone $300
Capstone $750? (website says $250 per credit)
21 credits in TECEPs: $819 (website says $39 per credit)

You're right, I forgot about the capstone.

Also, this is for current military - I didn't think veterans got this $250/cr pricing, and the 24cr residency including TECEP's.  If you are NOT getting the military pricing, then all bets are off, and you should change your affiliation to Study.com, since you'll come out ahead that way.
