TESU Algebra MAT 121 Mid Term and Final Formats

Has anyone recently taken TESU's Algebra MAT 121? The syllabus states that it is open book and calculators can be used. Since a calculator can be used, does the students have to show all steps taken on a problem or just be able to arrive at the correct final answer? If all steps have to be displayed what software is used to work the problems, Word, Excel, MathType, etc.......
