Paid TESC tuition, what next?
#1
I paid my TESC enrolled options tuition a couple days ago. What happens next? Should I be getting an email soon indicating that I'm now enrolled?

I would say the next step depends on what you're planning to do. I would recommend you login to myEdison (Blackboard Academic Suite) and schedule an appointment with an adviser. They can plan out the remainder of your degree, pre-approve any courses/exams you have or will take elsewhere, and may be able to move credits around to help complete your degree.

You can also register for courses, pla's, or submit a financial aid form (if needed) now that you've paid. If you are completing more than one degree you can also have them add it on to your evaluation's list of active degrees.

Note that it may take time to filter through their system that you paid and even with your email receipt it may not let into certain things for a few days. Once you are able to schedule an advising appointment (even if you don't choose to do it) then I'd say you are officially enrolled.

My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

Forward all of your transcripts to TESC if you have not already done so, when they get them, you'll see them updated on your MyEdison account. Cooper has a good idea about meeting with your advisor, but be prepared- rather than "asking" what you plan to take, "tell" them and get the approval. You'll register for classes and then you're off!

If you are bringing in credits, be prepared to offer them course codes that you think are a match. Some classes like my Media Writing Course could be evaluated many ways but since I was able to provide an upper level course that matched the description they allowed it. Obviously some courses only could be taken one way, but be careful with courses they don't offer and how they transfer in. It all works out you just have to do the legwork.

Use these links to find course codes (or use the catalog for exam equivalencies):
Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings (Search by subject [i.e. COM, SOS, PHI, MAT] or search a keyword)
Thomas Edison State College: Course Offerings (Shows all courses offered at TESC including online, guided study, epack, standard PLA, or TECEP)
