TESC policy change requiring 300/400 for UL?
#11
I just contacted TESC regarding the new 300-400 level requirements for the BA-LS degree and they confirmed that if you were enrolled prior to July 2009 then your requirements will be based on whatever catalog was in effect at the time of enrollment.

Hey, are you reading my mind?? My thoughts (concern, really) exactly. Guess I need to officially enroll now rather than wait a little longer like I was planning.

Man, I wish I felt confident that TESC would give a little notice before they would do something like that - then I'd hold off. But, I don't remember them issuing any warning prior to making the change for the Liberal Arts degree.

So how is this going to affect my quest at testing out of a degree using CLEP, DSST, and my FEMA credits?? Can it still be done?

Of course, you just have fewer choices. You'll be forced to take certain exams because of their level rather than the subject matter that interests you.

I need some advice....I'm planning to pursue a BSBA from TESC in General Management. So far, I have 48 credit hours through CLEP. Fortunately, the requirements for the BSBA haven't changed....yet.

In light of this new information, would it be better to enroll now, or wait a little while longer to save on tuition as I had previously planned?

Hehe, you're sure right about that. I just hope the revamped TECEPs aren't on Bb, ugh.

In other policy change news, all GS classes now have an online final. Like the system wasn't crashing during the last week anyway. Now they want us all on there? Something's disconnected. I love this school, but if I can't complete my exams, how in blazes do they expect me to pay them to graduate?

addision Wrote:True, that is why i was going to go for a second degree in natural sci/ math, after my BSBA because I knew there were far more courses TESC offered at the 200 level that would allow me to complete the degree.

I had been planning on the same thing because many of my science credits were 200 level. Oh well. Rolleyes

did they pull all of the tests or just some?

They pulled some on 7/01/09 and will be pulling some more on 12/31/09.

Some of what they pull they won't be bringing back. So that makes it difficult. Those that they will be removing on 12/31 are listed on the TESC site.

Thanks for the update. Wonder if TE is making these changes to make it harder to "test out". After all they make a lot more money if you take classes online.

Funny, the reason I decided to investigate "testing out" was because when I took 2 TE class online they messed up several things and it frustrated me. They lost our classes' midterms before they were graded. You never got any feedback on midterms or finals. And the online discussion was often off schedule.- Like some students were late and still on discussion module 1 while others were on time and had moved on to discussing the next module.
