Did anyone else have to pay a late course registration fee to TESC? Naturally I had to or else I wouldn't have started this thread; however, I was told I could appeal this fee to the registration office if I desired. After looking on the Online Student Services page where you register and on the website I did not see the time frame for what is late registration, just the noted fee. I am sure it is probably in the catalog, but I didn't have time to look it up there. Since I can't find a noticeable warning of registration times I believe I could win this appeal. Granted it is only $158, but I paid for school out of pocket and I would prefer to keep any money that I can. I don't think I would be as frustrated if there was just a warning of a late fee, because then I would have just waited to start in March; however, there wasn't even the option to register in March. So if anyone notes the registration window please inform everyone so they can save themselves $158. Remember that money could go to more CLEPS, DSSTs, SL, or other courses. Ok done venting, but obviously if someone notes the time frame please do people of favor and share the information. Good news out of all of this: I registered for my last course :coolgleam:

I had to pay it for one course that was a last minute decision. The course registration fee is another one that annoys me. With TESC it seems like it is a good idea to have a solid plan before signing up for courses and to be real familiar with their academic calendar. Frankly, I am glad to see them in the rear view mirror. If I had to do it over again I would avoid the big 3.

This is one of the reasons I tell folks to take the time to learn as much as they can about school policy and procedures. A lot of information can be found online and in the catalog. (Especially anything related to fees) You can pretty much enter any subject in the search box and it will generate pages to review.
Anway, here is the link to the academic calendar. Late reg for Feb term Jan 18-22
Thomas Edison State College: Undergraduate Academic Calendar
Sorry I don't think you will receive a refund on the fee unliess this is your first semester and they are kind enough to waive the fee since this schedule is easily found both online and in the catalog.
Here's another calendar I found important:
Grade Submission Calendar
I created a TESC favorites folder and organized links to everything TESC under that main folder/subfolders for easy access. Also I had a study binder so would print out the calendars and include them, just like I did when attending class on campus. I think when you are first starting it is an easier transistion if you fashion the experience similar to what you've done in the past. Online learning can quickly get overwhelming (due dates, etc) if you don't remain organized. I would check in every other day just to keep myself informed on in the discussion boards. Some instructors are very active on the boards, some you see only at the beginning and end of the course.
Enjoy and Good Luck!!!
