New Uexcel ECEP program starting June
#1
Does any know what the deal with the new Uexcel ECEP prom from Excelsior is really about? The pdf flyer from the Uexcel website is pretty vague. Apparently Uexcel and ECE exams are combining into one, but I am not sure what this really means for testing locations, pricing, availability, etc.

from I can tell it seems the Uexcel and ECE exams are now one entity called
ECEP (Excelsior College Examination Program)

UExcel | Credit-by-Examination

click on the "click here to learn more" button on the red bar
and you'll get a pdf that says

Quote:Coming soon! More Credit-by-Examination options to help you complete your degree!

The UExcel program is changing! Effective June 27, 2013, UExcel exams will be available as part of an expanded Credit-by-Examination offering through Excelsior College. This new program, UExcel ECEP (Excelsior College Examination Program), will offer more than fifty examination subjects for college credit, providing more ways to save time and money on the path to a college degree.

Beginning June 27, students will register for their UExcel ECEP exam choices through the Excelsior College website at Error: need cookies, by creating a MyExcelsior account. If you already have taken Excelsior College classes or Excelsior College Examinations (ECEs), and have an existing MyExcelsior account, you won’t need to create a new one. You’ll use the same process to register for UExcel ECEP exams that you have used for Excelsior College Examinations.

Another important change to note is that official Excelsior College transcripts, with UExcel credit listed, will no longer be issued free of charge. After June 26, all transcript requests will be assessed a $12 fee per request. The last day to request free transcripts is June 26, 2013.

If you have purchased a voucher for a UExcel exam, June 25 is the last day you can use it to register for an exam via the UExcel site. After that date, while your voucher will be honored, you will need to contact Excelsior College (testadmn@excelsior.edu) to make arrangements to use it to pay for an exam. Excelsior will then help you register using your voucher on the Excelsior College website.

Straight from my inbox,

Dear Desmond,

Starting Thursday, June 27, 2013, Excelsior College is implementing a new registration process for the eight UExcel Exams.

You will need to register for UExcel Exams through the Excelsior College website at excelsior.edu/exams, or through your MyExcelsior account. Scheduling of your exam session will still take place through Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/excelsior

In addition, Excelsior College Examinations (ECEs – with the exception of the required nursing theory exams for our associate and bachelor degree in nursing programs) will be gradually changing in name to UExcel ECEP. This will not affect your exam transcripts or prevent you from registering for or taking any upcoming exams.

Transition Timeline

Tuesday, June 25
•Registration for UExcel Exams through the uexceltest.com website will be discontinued.

Wednesday, June 26
•The last day UExcel Exams will be delivered through the previous UExcel program. This is also the last day on which transcript requests will go through Pearson VUE.

Thursday, June 27
•Students will be able to register for UExcel Exams through the Excelsior College website at excelsior.edu/exams, or through their MyExcelsior account.

•Transcript requests for UExcel Exams will be handled by Excelsior College. Official UExcel transcripts will no longer be free; there will be a $12 fee per request.

If you have any questions about how to register for upcoming exams, or any concerns about the changing name of our exams, please contact the Test Administration Office by sending an email to testadmn@excelsior.edu or by calling us toll-free at 888-647-2388 ext. 166.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

I was just wondering why they would combine all of the exams under the Uexcel name. Aren't Excelsior Exams more well-known? I wonder how this will affect the acceptance of the exams at non-Big 3 schools. For example, Central Texas College accepts ECEs. They don't even know what Uexcels are.
