TESC degree plan review...

Please review my degree plan and let me know if this is okay...I'm working on a plan for BA in Liberal Studies...I have military credits but I'm not sure where TESC will apply military credits in Liberal Studies so in the mean time I want to get a head start in testing out while I wait on my credit evaluation....I want/need to complete my requirements before the Jan 1st deadline so I can graduate in March...any suggestions on the "easier" tests are welcomed as well ...my main focus right know are UL tests because I know I don't have enough UL credits for the degree.

My unofficial evaluation from Excelsior for a BS Liberal Studies indicates that I only need the mandatory Capstone Course and 18 UL credits but I don't know if my TESC evaluation will come out with the same results.

A few more questions:
- TESC list Organizational Behavior twice on their accepted DANTES listing….one for PSY 361 under Social Sciences and the other for MAN 311 under Business…is there more than one Org Behavior test?

- I read somewhere on here that TESC counts Fundamentals of Counseling as UL, will it count as a Liberal Study area or Free Elective?

I have all of the same questions that you do. Plus, I wonder about Business Ethics and Principles of Accounting. I am not a TESC student, but I have gotten the impression that all of the Gen Ed and Liberal Studies need to be chosen from Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Math. The evaluation will tell you about the ones that you have already taken. Be sure to find out about the others you have planned.

If Business Ethics counts, then you will want to put those UL credits in the Liberal Studies section. This section requires:

6 credits - 100-level
9 credits - 200-level
18 credits - 300-400-level

A&I Lit is 6 credits and 200-level, so you want that in this section, too.

When you find out more, please update this thread.

On another note, I compiled a UL list for finishing a BSLS at Excelsior. You'll need to adjust it to reflect your current credits.

The most inexpensive way I know of to get 30 UL credits for a BS is going to be (by enrolling after July 1, 2010):

All 4 DANTES exams in Arts & Sciences – 12 UL –
Civil War
Soviet Union
Money & Banking
Business Ethics & Society

3 out of 4 DANTES exams in Applied Professional – 9 UL –
Management Information Systems

Thank you...I wasn't sure about Accounting and Business Ethics either...I 'm hoping someone will verify what area these two will fall under at TESC...I'm trying to complete the requirements by 1 Jan so I won't be able to go through Exclesior because of their Capstone requirement...TESC is taking forever to complete my evaluation and I really don't want to study for and take any test I don't need or won't count.

There is only one Org Behavior DSST. Whether it counts as psychology or business credits depends on your degree program.

But I can't answer most of your questions I can tell you TESC is very liberal with taking old credits at least for general electives. For your Maths what were the course names and #'s? I did get credit for Aleks Begining Algebra as MAT-102 General Math I so I think your maths should all count. i also got 6 credits in humanities Lit-291 and 292 for A & I lit CLEP.

You have a very close deadline, if I were you I would start taking the CLEP/DSST you know are good you have 10 listed that is a lot in less then 2 months

They withheld 4 credits because of the military program requirement (18 cr residency) but when I switch programs, they will add 4 more credits from my remaining credits to my degree plan...plus this evaluation does not include my Vietnam War DANTES yet...so I only need 11 more credits!!!...I intend on taking:

Congratulations on being so close to completion!

You have a strong foundation in both business and social science so org behavior will be a cinch. Instead of world religion why not consider the dantes fundamentals of counseling (COU262) exam. Since youve taken quite a few psy exams I think you would find it easily doable and TESC transcribes it as PSY331.

These three exams along with your SL macroeconomics will meet all remaining requirements. Depending how far along you are in to your SL course you could also just knock out four free FEMA courses to fill the free electives section (avg 1-1.5hr per course). TESC accepts the transcript direct from EMI so the credits are completely free of charge.

Thank you...I'm going with World Rel because I really put most of my studying time in that one so far and I think I can pass it...I'm really considering taking the Soviet Union DANTES instead of Org Behavior because it's way too boring for me to stay focused...I didn't know TESC counted that PSY DANTES as UL, thanks...I'll have to check that one out and see whether that one or the Soviet Union DANTES will be better for staying awake....I have about two weeks to study before testing.

I dropped Macro....so I plan on taking the A&I Lit CLEP to get 6 credits...I'll be over 2 credits in General Edu Electives but I'd rather take one CLEP than two.

I have lots of Free Elective credits remaining (over 20 credits, I believe) that TESC evaluated...I didn't include those in my post...TESC will roll 4 credits from those over when I switch programs.
