TESC - poor customer service
#11
A Mom, I understand, I'm a dad. There are many on here who have degrees from TESC and I'm sure they are elated w/their service. But, look at the number of negative posts, factor in that TESC has about 1/2 less students than EC and there is a history there. I know how to reserch, to reed, rite, and other stuuff. Getting back to the point, people have questions, no two situations are alike, people call from all over the world with different needs. That is why you have admissions, advisors, counselors, etc. Don't be insulted for your child to hear some negative feed back, I commend him and the service he received. I live in NJ and I've talked to others here who have heard negative things of the school. It is out there. I have a person I work w/taking Mech Engineering at Drexel and I sense he looks down on my degree from Excelsior because it is in BSL and also the fact it is an external degree school. OK, so be it. I move on. One thing I believe in is customer service. I know many companies out there don't sit back and say we're not spoon feeding the customer, they are being proactive, they want to get your business, and college is a business. Just over two years ago I asked them the following simple question; I have a 4 cr hr class in Biological Science w/Lab from a regionally accredited college. Would that count towards your Gen Biology w/Lab class? This after I explained I was really interested in their Environmental Program. They said I had to register for $75.00 to find out if I could use it. Then I had my wife using her e-mail, ask a question somewhat similar, (it's on e-learners site) and she got the same reply. No problem, they lost the business. Maybe where you come from that is perfectly fine, where I come from I say take a hike. I guess we just have different ideas. No disrespect momma

Gary Wrote:Had to get this out of my system during break from ALEKS. Called TESC to ask a basic question for a degree program. Their customer service is horrible, as I expected and had dealt w/in the past. (1) question only and it had to be e-mailed, they were not allowed to answer it. I have a person at work who was thinking about them, I will steer him away if possible. I have never run into this in all my calls to other colleges. They are consistent, consistently bad dealing w/the customer. I don't care about free FEMA credits and liberal policies etc, as far as serving potential customers, they are sadly lacking. This is not to knock people who have degrees from there, just an observation about a school that apparently is on a par w/Ivy League schools. Like playing the famed 18th at Pebble Beach, I guess we should be honored to be associated w/them. My advice, don't play this course, too many sand traps, rough fairways and water. Take your clubs elsewhere.

wow. total newbie here - barely even understand the lingo kind of newbie - so my .02 probably isn't even worth that much.

I can't imagine paying that kind of money to any school not even knowing basic information like what would transfer and what kind of degree path I would have with them. That's crazy tossing money in the wind kind of talk in this house. and their rude to boot about it? No way I'm going to be eager to pay somone to be rude to me - that's free anywhere these days.

If they were the only ones available for what I needed - well we'd suck it up I guess, but if they aren't, well that's a mighty fine and quick way to run a business down the potty.

A friend of mine just had it out with TESC last week. She had contacted them about several transcripts that showed up on here evaluation as being received but not credited. 2 whole months came and went and still no update. So she called and asked about her language exam she took and they said that she would have to have on certified. She explained she only had a copy and they can not certify it. So when she called them back they said they could not find it and she would have to have a new one sent. She lost it at that point. 2 months to update and now it is lost. So she called the presidents office and AA that works for the president said she will have the VP of what ever call her. Well she gave it till 3 in the afternoon and she called back. The VP said she is looking into what is going on and will get back to her. Well amazingly at 6 that afternoon her transcript was updated. They found her missing 12 credits. The next day she had to call and speak to someone in academic affairs and the person that is the head person down there told her to never call the presidents office again. My friend said I had ever right to call because I have got the run around from you people. The woman basically said that she was not telling the truth and there is no record of all of this happening. Well thank heavens my friend had saved the emails with the person that was telling her to get new transcripts and that they were lost and basically she could not help her. Her registration was also running out and she would not be able to finish in time. Costing this poor woman more money. Well she sent all the emails that she had to this person that told her not to contact the presidents office again. My friend also made it clear that if see does not get the help that she needs from who ever it is she will contact the presidents office again. Well my friend ended up forwarding this person email along with all the other emails to the president office. I think someone got in trouble at TESC last week.

TESC sounds like it is slipping down hill. I guess they are reaching out for new students, and cutting staff at the same time.

I am glad to report that my experience with EC was excellent. The most unique thing about EC is that they do not treat you like a student chump, they actually treat you like an adult. Almost every phone call that I have had with other colleges has been a bad experience, where they talked down to me while covering for their own mistakes. It makes me want to send them a copy of that scene in the Uncle Buck movie involving the school principal with the wart on her face.
EC - BSLS Finally done!
Went from 86 to 120 credits in six weeks thanks to IC and the forum.
Currently doing MBA pre-reqs.
Now BSLS + 9 credits
