I know this capstone is a bump in the road but don't let it steer you away from your goal, continue to drive on.

I remember the post, and it was the first warning I saw of the possibility of changes coming. And, to be honest, I'm glad that the threat of the capstone came up so that I would be pushed out of my state of inertia and forced to take action and get enrolled! I hope to be sending TESC my FEMA transcript next week, too late for a September degree conferral, but I'll have it by the end of the year.

I am specifically going by what the evaluation and an adviser has told me over the phone a few weeks ago, "Just finish those last 15 credits and you'll be done" is what I'm doing.
Not to upset the apple cart but I would get what was said in writing from the admissions/registrars office. Unfortunately the point you are missing is they(advising) were going by the initial admissions evaluation which is not a formal contract until you are Enrolled. Some have waited, thinking they were flying under the radar, and found out while having their file audited that they did not meet graduation requirements. It happened to me with my AAS ES&ST.

I agree. Actually, until I have the diploma in hand--and a transcript stating that I've graduated--I think I'll still be nervous!

Personally I'm excited about the capstone. You culminate your knowledge in a (hopefully) very interesting project. I think it'll be a lot more fun than writing a test. However, it'll definitely be more time consuming and costly.

Stitching Belle,
You might still be able to apply for September graduation, even after the July 1st deadline. I've heard some forum members have done this before, just don't wait too long. I would submit the application for graduation and in the remarks sections write FEMA transcript mailed or something like that. I requested my FEMA transcript from FEMA and it was mailed within 7 - 10 days, they are pretty fast. The worst that can happen is that they deny you for September graduation and you will graduate in December.
Good Luck.

Thanks. I plan to finish my FEMAs either today or tomorrow (just took 2, only 2 left...) and will immediately request that the transcript is sent to TESC and will fax graduation request form. As you said, the worst that can happen is a December graduation!

Dear Kristi:
As long as your application does not go inactive, you are locked into the 2011-2012 catalog year, which does NOT require a capstone. If your application goes inactive and you do not enroll, you will have to reapply, which will cause you to fall into the 2012-2013 catalog year which DOES require the capstone course.
We maintain applicant records for a period of six months. *If you apply and do not enroll within the six month period your application will be inactive and you will need to reapply.
I hope this information helps. *Should you require further guidance you may call our office toll-free at 1-888-442-8372, an Admissions Counselor will be happy to assist you.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Hutchinson

Sounds like TESC will honor the catalog in force when the initial evaluation was done, provided you enroll within the 6 month application period. So I could have waited until November to enroll--but then I wouldn't be graduating in December!
This could be great news for anyone who has an evaluation that is still current but missed the June 30 cut-off for enrollment.
