TESC, after a year of no activity my college credits have been deleted

TrailRunr Wrote:That's not true. You are still an applicant until you take a class or TECEP. If you're talking about the reg fee, how do you pay it without taking a class or TECEP?

Edit to add: Add a class (not TECEP), pay for it, drop it (reg fee not refundable), wait a few weeks for the refund to come back to the credit card???

I'm not talking about the free reg, that's why I stated "$75/yr per-credit tuition plan." This is the plan I'm on right now, I am registered and my status at TESC shows as "enrolled." My transcript is showing progress towards the "locked in" ASBA degree track. I haven't taken a single TESC course or TECEP.

TrailRunr Wrote:It appears TESU can change degree requirements on a dime such as the cornerstone. And there are the major tuition changes. There wasn't enough notice on the tuition change to avoid it. So I think the July rule-of-thumb is no longer good. Get yourself enrolled in 1 TECEP ASAP (even though the TECEP won't count towards residency if passed) or take a $1560 class.

July 1 is when they change the CATALOG and degree requirements (at least, it has been for some years now), so that's what I was talking about, not the cornerstone, or the tuition plans.

Enrollment has to do with being enrolled, and whether you take a TECEP or course at TESU, won't change that. You can take those without being an enrolled student (you can do it as an un-matriculated student), and you can enroll without taking a TECEP or course. I applied in June, and showed enrolled (matriculated) in July, and took my first TECEP in September. There were no issues. If I didn't take a TECEP until December, I would have been just fine. I was still listed as ENROLLED in July, before I took a TECEP. It says on the website that you don't have to take a TECEP/course for 6 months after initial enrollment, and then again once per year to stay enrolled under your current catalog.

There is no annual or registration fee with the Per-Credit Tuition plan at all. You pay the $75 application fee, and that's it. I haven't paid any fees to TESU since I applied, except for registering for TECEP's. My only other fee I expect to pay is the Graduation fee.

Going forward, I'm not entirely sure how things will work, since previously you locked in a catalog and then you knew the rules for yourself, based on the catalog you were under. It's very strange all of a sudden to have these changes put in place in April and May, without knowing how they're going to affect current students, and I think they do themselves and their students a disservice by enacting these rules in this new way, without a lot of clarity. Bad administrators in action.

The cornerstone is a new graduation requirement that takes effect before July 1. So the July rule is dead.

It didn't work like that for me. That's why I think you're wrong or I'm doing something way wrong. The applicant flag did not change to enrolled until I actually enrolled. You have to do something more than to apply. Matriculation is not automatic upon application alone. So tell me how to do it beyond these two steps:

1) Apply for TESU.
2) Send transcripts to TESU
3) ?????

Mine did change automatically. I applied, was accepted, and my student status changed automatically not much later -- well before I sent any transcripts even. I applied and paid on Feb 8, and my profile shows my start date as 3/13/16 with a status of OS1TU.

Mine stayed as OSAPP. Nothing changed. I did get an email that said "Congratulations on your admission to Thomas Edison State College! We are delighted to welcome you, and we wish you great success here! " So I have no idea what went wrong for me.

The July rule is not dead, since it doesn't apply to anyone who is already locked in to a previous catalog. It only applies to anyone who enrolls after May 25, 2016.

The $75 is the application fee. You aren't enrolled until you register for a course, TECEP, or portfolio assessment under the Per Credit Tuition Plan (soon, TECEPs and portfolio assessments won't count); pay the enrollment fee under the Enrolled Options Plan (this is going away), or pay tuition or set up financial aid for the Comprehensive Tuition Plan. If you do not enroll in a tuition plan 6 months after application, then TESU will toss out your file and make you apply and send transcripts again. There is no $75 yearly fee. In order to stay enrolled, you either need to pay the yearly tuition under the Comprehensive plan, annual enrollment fee under the Enrolled Plan, or register for another course under the Per Credit plan. If you let your enrollment lapse, you will have to apply under any current policies they have. In other words, if you aren't already officially enrolled under the Per Credit Tuition Plan, you will have to reapply under the changes starting April 1st.

Nothing is wrong. That is the way it's supposed to work. There is no such thing as an annual $75 fee to stay enrolled. You need to sign up for a TESU credit earning option. You will be considered enrolled 10 days after the term starts. I've been enrolled under the Per Credit Tuition Plan since 2014, and TESU sends an email when your enrollment is about to lapse telling you that you need to sign up for a course, TECEP, or portfolio assessment.

At least two people say the contrary, so something funny is going on. Your experience and my experience are clearly not matching with theirs. So this isn't settled.
