TESC - Second BA requirements

If one were;

Paying for TESC enrollment/courses entirely with Financial Aid which they are no longer eligible for once they've earned a BA...

And...

Want to get a second BA ... also enrollment/courses paid for with said financial aid...

They would... rack up all the courses required for both, except for the 24 core credits for the second BA.

And then...

Once they've graduated with the first BA...

Test out (not covered by finaid anyway...) of the 24 credits they still need for the second BA...


Right?

If that's correct thus far...

Then...
1) How is the capstone handled for the second degree? If both require Liberal Arts capstones you don't have to take it twice do you?

2) If the first degree (psych) and the second (lets say business) both require statistics...and the ALEKS stats courses are cataloged the same ... could someone take the Behavioral Stats. for the first degree and the Business stats for the second degree? Or would it just be like taking the same course twice?

not eligible for financial aid means not eligible for a pell grant. You are still eligible for financial aid if you're in school. If "I" got to step 2 where I wanted a second BA degree, I'd post it here and have my cyber friends hit me in the head. There are a minute number of circumstances in which a second BA directly after the first with no job experience in between is an upward move. I can only think of 2, there may be more. But, in all likelihood, your situation is not one of those two. In your siggy, you write that you're going for your BA Psych. That means you need to earn a graduate degree before you can practice psychology in any way-shape-or form, and it's going to be limited even then. Assuming maximum changes of getting a license, you're probably going to need for that grad school to be on the ground. If you're going to try distance learning that means you're planning to go to Fielding, which is something like $90k and climbing. All those hoops and you want a second undergrad degree? I vote no. Go directly to grad school, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

To phrase it very clearly, two undergraduate degrees in liberal arts is about the same as two high school diplomas. Think vertical climb, not lateral move.

I keep vacillating but I am pretty sure I'm going for a second BA.

To earn a second bachelors degree from TESC I believe you need to earn 24 new credits. So statistics for example should "transfer" over to your new degree plan, seeing as how you will need to earn 24 new credits within your new major. Sticking with the second BA in Business, there are quite a few required courses for a business degree, more then the 24 new credits you will need. Does that make sense?

Yeah I was hoping if I took both Behavioral (for psych) and Intro or Business stats for the other one It could count as two distinct courses cause the names are different even though they log them the same.

Aleks is just so much easier and more cost effective so was hoping to utilize it as much as possible. (when/if it comes back).

I believe no matter your degree plan statistics from ALEKS will always duplicate, it will always be STA-201 no matter if you take intro, behavioral, or business.

As to your first question, I think I read on this forum that someone asked about a second capstone and was told they didn't need to take it again. But I say that with no confidence because I didn't hear it from TESC myself.

Are you looking to complete another BA or BSBA? The capstone for the BSBA is Strategic Management. Of course, you can test out of it or take the course somewhere else. I doubt they would count a duplicate statistics course toward the 24 new credits because the new statistics course would be basically void and not even count toward your degree. Your enrollment is always good for 1 year whether you graduate or not. You can earn as many degrees and certificates as you want within that 1 year.

I don't know if you would have to retake the liberal arts capstone for a second BA, but why would you want one? The only ones that might be worth getting are computer science and natural science/mathematics. Maybe mathematics and economics would be worth it too, but I doubt you're going for those. The other BAs are either too closely related to psychology (TESC won't even let you get another degree in a closely related field) or not even worth the extra expense.

While we are on the subject, another question regarding a second degree. If one has finished a BSBA from TESC, how many courses would be required to do a B.S in Homeland Security. Can one do the required 6 courses (18 credits) and fill the area of study electives (15 credits) with FEMA courses and fulfill all requirements?
Not that it makes sense to do this degree after BSBA but if you have paid enrollment for a year and if it is possible to find some of those 6 courses at a cheaper college then why not.
Just a Thought, only exploring what else you can get out of it with Paid enrollment.

Just wondering... if you get a BA and then decide to get the BSBA-CIS... could you fill all the requirements with area elective credits... or does it need to be core?
