So, I keep reading about all of crazy people with your crazy all-test-out plans and I start to wonder .... now that I'm getting the degree I "need" maybe picking up a second degree in business administration from one of these schools wouldn't be a terrible idea carrier wise.
I'm considering the BSBA CIS from TESC and would like to find out how many courses I'm missing before I go too far down the path. Does anybody know if it is possible to get an "unofficial evaluation"? I'd just like to know what I'd be getting into before I start dropping cash on it :-)
This would be completely on the side as I'm taking the summer off to play with motorcycles and study for the CISSP. If I'm 2-3 tests away it might be worth it, if I'm 12 tests away .... maybe I save my $70 and take my wife out to a nice dinner :-P

I'm doing BSBA CIS and its worth it for me but do you want to pay 2800 bucks to enroll at TESC?
You need a LOT of business classes to complete this.
2 economics, 1 stats, 1 biz law, 2 accounting, 1 business ethics, 1 bus comm, 1 bus policy, CIS electives you probably have, management, marketing, about 4 business elective classes.
The CLEP and DSST is cheap and fun. The various other credit sources are doable but it will take time and money to complete.
Let me know if you need any specific info.

Business classes are not really a problem ( I think I have about 15ish biz credits now) but....

wowzers!
I went back to tesc and plugged in all the info for transferring in 120 credits.
Application Fee = $75
Transfer of previously earned credit = 120 credits
Annual Enrollment = $2696
Technology Services Fee = $107
Estimated costs for year $2,878
+$257.00 graduation fee.....
$3135 just for them to print out the paper? jeeber. I may just keep that as an option if I need a business admin degree for some currently unknown reason in the future. Thanks for the heads up ryoder!

COSC is $1500 to enroll, but they now require both a Capstone AND a Cornerstone, at 285ish per credit, that's going to cost you a lot and be time consuming.
I believe EC is a cheaper option but you're still running into the Capstone issue. I'm pretty sure that's why TESC charges more.
Even with the cost, I still eventually want to get a 2nd undergrad at TESC. My DH will be doing psych tests and it would be fun to study together. Who knows though... depends on the MBA plans.

Hey who you callin crazy. $2700 to enroll doesn't seem near the costs that B&M colleges charge. As for the all-test-out degrees, you probably heard about BSBA in general management. Probably the easiest degree to get.
ALSO, TESC is not a degree mill. They are a FULLY ACCREDITED college. You might really erk some people off here if you try to discredit their degrees. People here have put a lot of time and effort into their degrees. We just don't like spending 4 years and $100,00 getting them.
BSBA in Finance from TESC by fall 2011
Total: 147 credits

I'm not exactly sure what it is that has your knickers in a twist, but I didn't say anything bad about tesc. I said I think it is expensive for an online school that is clearly willing to give me a degree based on evaluated credits alone (transfer in 120). You're the one who brought up the degree-mill thing, not me.
In any case, the reason for starting this thread wasn't about cost. I was curious if anybody knew if it is possible to get an unofficial transcript evaluation from TESC. :-P I'll just give them a call sometime and ask, just thought somebody on here might know.

grauwulf wasn't dissing TESC.
He is right, its a total waste of money for him but not for me.
The heavy enrollment fee gets you access to their advising staff and covers admin costs. Yeah its a lot but it also gets you discounted TECEP fees which is nice. I think the TECEP is only 275 for enrolled students.

OK sorry about the mix up grauwulf.
You can get a evaluation from TESC, I'm not sure how much it costs because I never had to mess with it. It might be about $75.
