Hi All, i am new to TESC and this forum as well. I hope someone can help me with this as I saw it referenced on an earlier post.
3 of the 4 courses during my first semester will require proctored exams. 1 of them specifies that it uses ProctorU. The other 2 say that the middterm needs a proctor but does not mention ProctorU. From what I understand, ProctorU exams are online exams - not pen and paper exams. Therefore, my 2 other exams would be pen and paper exams. Can I use ProctorU to take those middterms (from the earlier post it seems that yes, you can) and if so, how? If the exam is mailed to proctoru how would I take it?? So confused - but as a busy working mom i really hope I can do proctored exams through proctoru - it is so convenient.
Any helps is much appreicated!

Try your local library or college testing center.
Those are actually the only 2 places, unless you go to a separate testing center.
The Library I think is your best bet, that is where I am taking my TECEPs.

If your local college has an Extension Division, try that too. And, shop around! UC Berkely wanted something like $150 per exam to proctor. UC Davis is only $20 to proctor.

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun. Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior. And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

I'd suggest calling or emailing the Office of Test Administration with all your questions and concerns. They'll be able to look up and give the specific answers on options for the courses you're taking, whether ProctorU is an option for them, and how it would work. I had a difficult time locating a suitable local proctor, and received loads of help and advice from OTA. With the suggestions she provided and a few phone calls, a local proctor was found that will a) do it for free, and b) give me an evening of her time so I do not need to take so much time off work for mid-terms. It was someone out of their database that I'd never have called without the pointer. They should be able to help you find a proctoring solution that will work with your schedule and needs.

Four courses your first semester while being a working Mom is a heavy load. Have you considered testing out of any credits? It is difficult figuring out all your options when you first start. If you tell us more about what credits you have and what degree you are going for we might be able to help more.
Guided study courses are where you do all the work on your own there is no contact with the other students in the class and little or no input from the proctor. You are given weekly reading and weekly writing assignments. The assignments are sent to the proctor via blackboard and you get a grade and some comments back.
Good luck with your studies and don't give up, the good people here are great at suggestions and encouragement.
