TESC - New Grade Policy eff. July 2011
#1
FYI,

----------------------------------------------------------------
New Grade Policy Takes Effect July 2011
Final course grades of F, IF and W will now appear on Thomas Edison State College transcripts

Final course grades of F, IF and W awarded for Thomas Edison State College courses, which start on or after the July 2011 term, will appear on the Thomas Edison State College transcript. In addition, the grades of F and IF will be included in the calculation of the Thomas Edison State College grade point average (GPA).

The College is making this change because recording the outcomes of all attempts to earn credit brings the institution in line with current standards and best practices within higher education.

"Insights" from Thomas Edison State College: New Grade Policy Announced, February 2011

Wow! That seems harsh since they won't apply your previous credits earned from other schools to your GPA. If you only take a single class or very few classes with TESC to get a GPA on your transcript, one F or IF could really tank your GPA. I do see it being in line with other schools, but other schools will usually award credit for classes taken at other schools.
