TESC LDAS degree plan
#11
Jonathan Whatley Wrote:There's 5 sh in EDM, all lower level, and everything else is standard business credit. If a candidate had no more in psychology than two standard LL courses, plus a stack of business courses, and applied on this basis for an area of study in Psychology from a Business and Management Perspective, do you think this would be accepted?

How much nexus is there between Principles of Sales and Principles of Marketing and EDM? There's crisis communication, but you already have at least two other courses that speak to that part of the picture more closely.

I respect what you're trying to do but I'd be very surprised if this approach to it worked. Also, following sanantone, something like this would be a better fit with a BSBA LDAS. If you were connecting a liberal art to business/management, that would be a likelier fit for a BA LDAS.

This plan tries to push applied professional credit – LL credits in EDM many people use at TESC toward AASes, and other credits otherwise found in a BSBA – into the school's flagship liberal arts BA. I admire the divergent thinking this shows! But.

I agree with this. I didn't have much time to look over the degree plan before I had to leave. TESC will probably just tell you to use the FEMAs for free electives since you're only planning to earn 5 credits. Your plan is basically a BSBA that tries to get around the structure.

You're not going to want Organizational Behavior split like that since it's UL credit. I don't know why the evaluation did that. Organizational Behavior in the humanities section could be a mistake that will be found out in the degree audit. This should be corrected before you apply for graduation. The course is usually counted as a social science since it basically focuses on psychology in the workplace. If you're really interested in emergency management, the rest of your free electives should be free FEMAs instead of a bunch of CLEPs and DSSTs.

I appreciate all the input. In going to probably have to just go ahead and enroll and talk with an advisor to find the best path for me. I should really just stop trying to cut corners....just need to buckle down and get it done!

You aren't the only one guilty of trying to cut corners. :p

Looking at all your courses, it seems that you have most, if not all of the requirements for COSCs Business Concentration. They are also cheaper than TESC, have you looked into them?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I have looked into them. Originally I was considering TESC because they didn't require a capstone, where COSC did. However, Now that is not the case. I will look into it today.
