TESC Guided Study - Tied to 12 Weeks?
#1
For those who have done coursework at TESC through Guided Study, were you held to a 12 week schedule, or does TESC allow you to complete it as quickly as you can? Having been accustomed over the last couple of months to completing 1 - 3 'courses' per week via testing, the idea of having a course drag out for an entire 12 weeks seems tortuous. Unfortunately, if I want my final transcripts to show a GPA, I've got to resign myself to taking at least one course through TESC. I know that registration is tied to a set monthly schedule, but once registered, can you go at your own speed?

No such luck, unfortunately. I tried to get TESC to let me rush up a few courses or even just one so I could actually take a course. They were very clear that I could not take the final before the 12 weeks were all but up. I did not get into specifics of being allowed to complete the course work faster and then just wait for the exam. That could be an option but if you are trying to meet the April 1 date for June 1 graduation then it will not work.

Bummer - I suspected as much; thank you for confirming it. Oh, well, guess I'll have to resign myself to doing this one slowly. The course in question is one I need for the BSBA, not the BA, but according to TESC's silly GPA policy, once I complete it the TESC GPA will be established and will then count for both Bachelors, even though the course itself only applies to the BSBA and will be completed after I've filed for the BA graduation. Silly to base GPA on just one course, but that's what their new GPA policy comes down to for those of us who test out.
