I guess it would probably depend on the school, the program (some schools have different entrance requirements for different programs) and competitiveness of entrance to the program.
All that I've looked at do want to see a GPA, at minimum, and some want to know the GPA in the area of study. Some have even more requiremnets such as getting letters of recommendation, writing an essay, having worked a certain number of years in the field of study etc. It's best to check the requirements of the indivual school and program to know exactly what is required.
