Hi,
I had my transcript evaluated for a Bachelor's in Business with a concentration in Accounting. And I have 33 credits remaining to graduate. I have a couple questions:
-I was told I transferred in the max amount of credits. Can I take a CLEP/DSST exam and transfer in more credits for the remaining courses?
-Once I enroll in the per credit tuition plan, can I drop out of the program at anytime with no obligations or fees due to TESC?
-I have a lot of experience in Accounting. If I wanted to, could I complete all 33 credits with the PLA portfolio evaluation, or is there a limit?
-I also have an advanced Accounting course I took for my MBA that did not get transferred/applied. I feel it should count towards an Accounting elective. Should I appeal this?
Thanks!

For TESU, It's a max of 90 credits from a single source, you can transfer more credits from a new source
You have to pay for any courses you sign up for and don't drop before the cutoff, but other than that you're under no obligation
You could PLA out potentially, but it'd probably be easier to test out. That's a personal opinion, I'm sure others will disagree.
Definitely worth appealing. The worst they can say is no.

I agree with jsd, hopefully you can give some additional info so we can help more:

-I was told I transferred in the max amount of credits. Can I take a CLEP/DSST exam and transfer in more credits for the remaining courses? What was said from TESU about the "max credits" so we can help determine if this was done correctly or not?
-Once I enroll in the per credit tuition plan, can I drop out of the program at anytime with no obligations or fees due to TESC? There are no fees at TESU, but you also can't sty enrolled unless you take a TECEP ($114) or the cornerstone ($300), which you will have to pay for.
-I have a lot of experience in Accounting. If I wanted to, could I complete all 33 credits with the PLA portfolio evaluation, or is there a limit? You can PLA all but the 4cr for the cornerstone and capstone (Strategic Management), although which courses they are could determine whether it's cheaper/easier to do the PLA or test out. You probably want to post your actual eval (minus your personal info) on here so we can tell you the best route to take.
-I also have an advanced Accounting course I took for my MBA that did not get transferred/applied. I feel it should count towards an Accounting elective. Should I appeal this? Yes, you should appeal - although it would help to see what they did with the course in the first place. What did they say about it? Did they put it in "other courses" at the end of the eval, and what codes did they use to reject it?
Thanks!

There are couple of limits on how much of a specific type of credit you can transfer. Thomas Edison State University: Track Your Evaluation Which one did you hit?
If you enroll and let it expire, when you re-enroll you may end up with a new catalog and the policies and program requirements could change. My suggestion would be that if your enrollment may expire, then use some of the easier TECEPs to maintain it.

You might want to review your previous posts: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...lease.html
I think there are several more, but with minor differences with the answers, if you still can't find the answer you really need, it has to come from TESU directly.

There are also some other ways to take some of these:
mccatm Wrote:Per the evaluation, I have to complete the 33 hours below to graduate.
STA-201 Statistics DSST or TECEP. Also available via ALEKS, Saylor (cheaper)
MAT-121 College Algebra-going to appeal. Also available via ALEKS, Saylor - probably easier to just do the course via ALEKS if you know the material already.
FIN-301 Principles of Finance DSST/Clep - DSST, also availabe through Penn Foster (Financial Management, $299)
MAN-373 Managerial Communication TECEP - also available through Saylor, only $25
BUS-421 Strategic Management TECEP
ACC-201 Intermediate Accounting I - PLA portfolio
ACC-202 Intermediate Accounting II - PLA portfolio
12 credits accounting electives- going to do PLA portfolio.
Auditing
Accounting Systems
Advanced Accounting
Accounting Theory

Personally, I found the PLA portfolio extremely time consuming. I ended up taking PLA 101 & 102, and ultimately ended up finding a way to test out of the remaining courses. That being said, a lot of the PLA material I planned to use came from my experience working in China; it was nearly impossible to dig up enough information to fill up my portfolio. If you have material to back up the life experience, by all means go for it!
If it's still accepted, I'd recommend straighterline. I don't much care for the company, but the classes are pretty straight forward and if you have time you can get a heck of a lot done in a very short amount of time. A few of the classes I was able to study the chapter immediately take the test, and keep rolling through it. Again, double check to make sure straighterline is still accepted prior to using them.
I know straighterline has these classes that you mentioned below:
ACC 201 (accounting 2 on SL)
ACC 202 (financial accounting)
Statistics (business statistics)
College Algebra (I'd recommend doing this via ALEKS)
Best of luck!

That means the bulk of each portfolio can be the same. I describe my experience doing a series of CS course in the PLA tips thread.
