TESC Degree Plan, Lets DO THIS!

AlbaTiVo Wrote:Here are the dates that you have to have all of your courses and tests done by, as well as the conferral dates. So, for example in my case, I am trying to be done by April 1st so that I can have my degrees conferred in June.

Are these dates for if you want to walk in graduation or just to get your diploma?

Those are the dates that the degrees are actually conferred and mailed out. I am not sure what they give out at the annual commencement ceremony in September. Hopefully someone that has attended can provide some input.

HorseManiac Wrote:Quick question....maybe I missed something, but is there any particular reason you are taking English through TECEP? I was just thinking that the CLEP might be cheaper since it's 6 credits in one. Just a thought.

I'll second that. Take the CLEP if you can.

Same thing with the Business Society. You can take the Business Ethics and Society DSST. This is actually one of the easiest exams out there. I only spent 1 day studying for it and don't have any business background (did take some other business tests prior though).

Other then that, looks pretty good!

I took my last exam on 30 September and dropped off my application to graduate in-person that day. All of my transcripts were received by TESC by 15 October (except DSST... because of SSN issues) while the updated DSST transcript was received on 1 November, (thanks to Hurricane Sandy) which was the deadline day for them to receive transcripts for December graduation. My degree was conferred on December 14. That means a minimum of 2.5 months until degree conferral and about 3 months until your receive your diploma.

I'll continue updating, but I knocked out the Technical Writing DSST, last week. Passed it cold! :coolgleam:

I've got 3 CLEP tests scheduled for this week. I've been averaging 80-95% on the full length practice tests.

Next week, March 18-22

English Composition w/ Essay (6 credit hours) CLEP
Principles of Management CLEP
Principles of Marketing CLEP

Thanks for the support & info everyone. I'll be sure to reply to each of you soon, but I'm busy these last few days.

Was Technical Writing DSST supposed to satisfy the Managerial Business Communications requirement? I was unable to get any CBE options approved for that particular requirement. Penn Foster or Straighterline are approved options, however. (You can still use Tech Writing as 3 of your 9 misc. Humanities, Gen Ed Ele, or Free Ele credits.)

If you opt to go the SL route, you can fulfill your PreCalc requirement through them as well, instead of CLEP.

I second Publius' recommendation to do Business Ethics in Society DSST instead of Business in Society TECEP. Much less administration nonsense to deal with, along with ease of study.

Are the items marked B&M already completed and transferring, or are you planning to take them in course form somewhere before the deadline? (I would assume the former, but the Accounting I note of "B&M/CLEP/DSST" was confusing.)

I think a member here said that TESC approved the Workplace Communication with Computers ECE for the Managerial Communications requirement. The test is fairly new. Saylor also has the NCCRS-approved Corporate Communication course which I think was also approved, but always check.
