In the TESC Catalog, in reference to a second Associate and Baccalaureate degree says - "Students must complete a minimum of 12 additional credits for a second associate degree and 24 additional credits for a second baccalaureate degree beyond the date all prior degrees were completed."
I suppose this means they will not issue two associate degrees at the same time - they will award the first one at the first graduation then award the second one at the next graduation.
Does it also mean "Students must complete a minimum of 12 additional credits ....beyond the date all prior degrees were completed." So does that mean one has to earn the 60 credits for the 1st one, receive it, then earn the additional 12. OR can one already have 72 hours of the right hours, apply for the first one then during the nest year you are paying for apply for the second associate degree?
Thanks for your help on this stuff. Some may wonder why I don't just call TESC with these questions but, as has been discussed on other threads, for various reasons sometimes the people on here are more studied in this stuff than say a newly employed advisor.
LOL it appears as if you have figured out how to find what you need. High five.
You will need to separate your graduations by a minimum of 1 period, and you must have 12 credits on your second that were not used on your first. The hook is that they have to come AFTER your fist degree.
Here is the sequence:
Enroll in associate degree 1. Complete 60 hours. File for graduation.
Enroll in associate degree 2. Complete additional 12 hours. File for graduation.
Somethings to consider- is this going to be a pain in the rear? It might be. I get it, you want to graduate with 2 degrees at once, but TESC says "ney ney" so you have a couple choices. If waiting for graduation for degree 1 means taking a huge break in credit-earning before doing degree 2, it might not be worth it because of the "time" cost. Also, you're going to pay another $500 for that second degree's graduation, AND you might run out of time inside your enrollment year. What if you do? Is it worth another year's enrollment fee?
Have you considered a bachelor's degree for your second degree instead? If you are already at 72 hours, file now and check that box. You DON'T have to stay enrolled- so you can simply get your associates degree, pull out re enroll when you are ready to collect your bachelor's degree.
Another option- use your credits at a second college instead of at TESC. TESC will have the credits for your first associate degree, and you can probably find a second college for the second degree. This involves a lot of homework- I know for myself I spent months finding a school - and then I didn't go with them anyway hilarious but you can possibly do this as long as you are not in violation of academic code. Code usually says you can't earn 2 of the same degrees, so as long as they are different you'll be ok.
May I ask what the two associate degrees are that you seek? Knowing that may spark a few more ideas.
