Would it benefit me to get an AAS from Clovis CC in CIS?

Use clovis for some cheap CIS credits but be careful to not get too many lower level credits for your CIS concentration.
But I would do the following and not worry about Clovis for right now. Begin aggressively working toward the business core and the requirements for the AS degree at TESC.
Take the Network tech TECEP and the DSST MIIS tests for elective credit that will eventually form part of the upper level portion of your CIS electives.
You might want to "cash in" and just get the associates and move on when you hit the 60 credit mark or you can choose to congratulate yourself and continue on to the 120 credit BSBA.

I took 1 TESC computer course and it was not easy. It was computer architecture and I really enjoyed it. I took it while in a graduate course and while taking the 6cr env science so my time was split but I did have to study and work on the assignments. You will learn in these courses or drop out. I think at least half the online students dropped the course by the third or fourth week. Most of them weren't really computer people though so if you are hardcore, you will stick with it and be fine.

Good luck.

Thanks Ryoder. Just want to clarify something's:
1. Forget about Clovis cc for now correct?
2. Work on AS at TESC. Meaning this degree Associate in Science in Business Administration (ASBA)? If not, what TESC AS degree are you referring to?
3. For business core and general education classes, are my SL choices good or should I attempt to test out of those classes?

I like computers but not sure if I would take the hardcore class. Thanks for the info, your time, assistance and prompt response. Patiently awaiting your new response =)

Just wanted to say, welcome to the forum! I enjoyed your first intro post. Yes, you can do this, especially with the support of other members who have been or are going through this, too.

Also, the Gen Ed electives section is anything that fits in the Gen Ed categories - Humanities, Social Science, History, Natural Science, and Math.

I'm looking forward to following your progress!
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

Sharing Credit-by-Exam* and Help for Veterans
Resources Used - 20+ Exams Passed & General GRE
Practice Tests - Available for CLEP and DSST

Thanks NAP. lol I figured I would put it all out there as I've delayed my degree long enough. This site is extremely informative. I would have never thought about half of things I'm reading/learning from this site. I checked the Gen Ed courses from TESC and I saw the listing.

Im thinking I can complete most of them with SL courses, CLEP or Dantes. I await Ryoders response for SL courses. Once I begin, I will keep updating progress and if all goes well - maybe even a wiki submission. It would be cool to have a degree plan from the ground up with previous college credits.

For Gen Ed electives, consider A&I Lit CLEP and more math, like College Math CLEP, ALEKS, or SL. It is also a good place to add subjects that interest you, within the required categories. (For SL vs. CLEP, it seems to be based on personal preference, so find the method that works best for you, which may vary depending on the subject.)

This forum is awesome!!!! Thanks NAP, Ryoder and ALL!!! Im getting my plan together now. I hope to start studying soon so I can begin my testing in September. Im thinking instantcert, khan academy and free test preps should do the trick. Its to my understanding college board will keep my CLEP results for 20 years, but the english comp with essay is held for a short period of time? If this is true, it would benefit me to take the english comp with essay CLEP last when im almost ready or already enrolled at TESC correct?

The last few days have been a blast. My family and girlfriend are surprised how fast this came together. I was never one to speak about school or degrees. Now they say this is all im rambling about lol.....

More updates to come soon. Finding testing centers and trying make a road map on which tests to take first. Im thinking computer CLEPs as im in the IT field =)
