TESC BA in History – Help Needed!
#1
Hi all,

I see that there are NOT enough history credits offered by CLEP and DSST to complete a TESC BA in History by testing out. I will have to take two courses (6 hrs) elsewhere.

I wanted to ask you guys, any ideas on where to get some extra history credits ONLINE, and preferably by testing out? I'm really open to any ideas. Any place I can earn 6 hrs of credits online, or preferably testing out...

Thanks so much!

Hi Rob,

How about TESC War & American Society HIS356. One awesome course = 6 credits. You can take either the GS, OL or Flashtrack format.

Both Linda and Elinor posted their degree plans on the link below. See Elinors post for description of the flashtrack course. http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...post104336

Here's is another thread by Clep101 that lists both his degree template and IrishJohns. They are from before the new 18 UL credit requirement but may still be useful. http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...e+template

Thanks for the recommendation. Hey do you know, how hard is it to make an 'A' on a TESC online history class, like War and American Society? Are they reasonable? If I study well can I expect an A?
Thanks so much!

Ohio University has some credit-by-exam options worth 2.67 semester hours each- Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome.

Look at BYU or LSU if you are OK with a couple of courses and look at the ECE exams.

For a history major, most likely an easy A. I majored in social science (psy/soc) and am not particularly an american history person but needed a change. The "society" inference intrigued me and I am so glad I took the course. I got an A. The written assignments were short, 2pgs if memory serves. This course is more of a review for history majors as it spans mainly the revolutionary period through the Korean War (although the reading goes through desert storm).

Do a quick search on the forum for the course title and you will see all the positive feedback.

Definitely take the TESC course "War and American Society" it is an easy "A". Especially Online version. (Pick Professor Tom Lansford) The Guided Study courses has more essays you have to write than the online course. I think every person that I know on this thread has gotten an A in that course, including my wife.

There is also an Excelisor College Exam (ECE) "World Conflicts since 1900" TESC considers it HIS-399. That should give you 3 more UL credits.

3 UL DSST History of Vietnam War
3 UL DSST Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union
3 UL DSST Intro to Modern Middle East
3 UL ECE World Conflicts since 1900
6 UL TESC War and American Society

3 LL CLEP US HIS I
3 LL CLEP US HIS II
3 LL CLEP Western Civ I
3 LL CLEP Western Civ II
3 LL Civil War & Reconstruction
or
3 LL Western Europe since 1945

That's your 18 UL semester hours right there plus the others will give you the 33 SH required for the degree. Unless you really want to test out, then you need to look into the other school mentioned with test out options.
Hope this helps,
