TESC BA Biology 2015 Opinion Needed
#1
I divided all of the 0-120 course requirements into 3 phases. What is your opinion on the distribution? Should I switch anything from one phase to the other or take them in a different order?

PHASE 1
●CLEP English Comp w/ Essay (6)
●DSST Intro to Computing (3)
●DSST Technical Writing(3)
●CLEP Lifespan Dev Psych (3)
●CLEP Intro to Sociology (3)
●DSST Business Ethics
●DSST General Anthropology
●General Edu Elective (3) TBD
●General Edu Elective (3) TBD
●Free Electives (27) TBD
● ALEKS Precalculus

PHASE II
●Biology CLEP I (6)
●Biology I Lab (1)
●Biology II Lab (1)
●Microbiology (4UL)
●Cell Biology (3UL)
●A&P (6)
●Pathophysiology (3UL)
●Plant Physiology (3UL)
●Science of Nutrition (3)
●Genetics (3UL)

Must I take BIO II in order to take the Lab? TESC requires 8 credits in Biology. I interpreted the description as Biology I and Lab 1&2

PHASE 3
●General Chemistry I w/Lab (4)
●General Chemistry II w/Lab (4)
●Organic Chemistry I w/ Lab (4)
●Organic Chemistry II w/ Lab (4)
●Biochemistry (3UL) [Or Bioethics (3UL) If I struggle thru chem)
●General Physics I w/Lab (4)
●General Physics II w/Lab (4)

If you have any experiences taking any of these sciences through Ocean, Straighterline, Excelsior, NMJC, Edukan or Clovis please share your experience Smile

I haven't looked at TESC course descriptions, but check the prereqs on Micro and make sure that you don't need to complete O-Chem first.

Hi I think only biology would be a prereq to micro and even that not absolutely necessary beforehand. Also here are TESCs requirements for BA Biology. .they don't mention prereqs for anything :/ Thomas Edison State College: Biology

I don't think TESC has its own course in Micro anyway. I think most people who test out of it use UExcel/ECE.

None of the courses in my plan are TESC courses. They are a combo of CLEP, DSST, Online sciences (debating ocean, clovis une,) and local CC

●Biology CLEP I (6) I took Intro to Biology without lab at TESC, 3
●Biology I Lab (1) I took General Bio 1 & 2 with labs at Ocean, 8
●Biology II Lab (1)
●Microbiology (4UL) I took Microbiology w/lab from Ocean, which will come in as 4 LL not 4 UL. To get it as UL you can't use a CC
●A&P (6) I took A&P 1 & 2 with labs from Ocean, 8
●Science of Nutrition (3) I took the TECEP through TESC, 3
●General Chemistry I w/Lab (4) took at Ocean, 4
●General Chemistry II w/Lab (4) took at Ocean, 4
●General Physics I w/Lab (4) I dropped regular physics mid-term from Ocean. General Physics had a calculus pre-req that I didn't meet.

*edit* I also took Intro to Chemistry for 4 cr BEFORE I took General the general chems.
