TESC B.A. Liberal Studies plan - next step?
#1
After spending many hours here and at TESC's website while waiting for my evaluation to get done... here's what I've come up with as a possible scenario for degree completion using what I have to work with from prior learning:

6 sh English Composition
3 sh ENC 1103 Freshman Communications I (Palm Beach College)
3 sh ENC 1102 Writing About Literature (Santa Fe College)

12 sh Humanities
2.6 sh ENL 2130 Intro to Shakespeare (University of Florida)
2.6 sh CLT 2370 Myths of the Greeks & Romans (University of Florida)
2.6 sh MUL 2011 Intro to Music Listening (University of Florida)
2.6 sh LIT 2214 World Lit Med. & Ren (D)* (University of Florida)
2 sh ENC 1418 Arg. & Persuasive Writing (University of Florida)

12 sh Social Sciences
3 sh SOC 1200 Intro to Social Sciences (Palm Beach College)
3 sh PSY 2012 General Psychology (Santa Fe College)
3 sh STD 1100 Indiv. in Changing Enviro. (Santa Fe College)
3 sh DEP 2004 Growth & Development (D)* (Santa Fe College)

12 sh Math & Science
3 sh MAC 1144 Trig & Analytic Geometry (Palm Beach College)
1 sh EGN 1001 Engineering Problems (Palm Beach College)
3 sh COC 1201 Intro to Data Processing (Santa Fe College)
4 sh MATH A200 Calculus I (University of Alaska)
1 sh PHYS F113 Concepts of Physics (University of Alaska)

18 sh General Education Electives
3.3 sh AMH 2020 US Since 1877 (University of Florida)
3.3 sh ECO 2013 Basic Economics I (University of Florida)
2.6 sh MAF 2200 Marriage and Family (University of Florida)
3.3 sh ANT 2402 Anthro & Modern Life (University of Florida)
2.6 sh PSC 2501 Our Environment (University of Florida)
3 sh SPCH A111 Fund of Oral Communication (University of Alaska)

18 sh Liberal Studies – Upper Level
3.3 sh ANT 3511 Physical Anthropology (University of Florida)
2.6 sh STA 3023 Intro to Statistics I (University of Florida)
*12-13 sh Upper Level ___ TBD/Testing* (DSST, TECEP, ECE)

15 sh Liberal Studies – LL or UL
*15 sh ___ TBD/Testing* (CLEP,DSST, TECEP, ECE, etc.)

27 sh Free Electives
3 sh AVTY F202 Flight Instructor - Ground (University of Alaska)
6 sh FAA Private Pilot - Helicopter (PLA from TESC)**
12 sh FAA Commercial Pilot - Helicopter (PLA from TESC)**
6 sh FAA Instrument Pilot - Helicopter (PLA from TESC)**

Other (Army training)… may or may not apply
4 sh AARTS Army Basic Training
6 sh AARTS Warrant Officer Candidate School
24 sh AARTS IERW Helicopter Flight Training
6 sh AARTS CH-47D Helicopter Qualification

I'd be interested to find out how this looks - and would appreciate suggestions on what CLEP, DSST, TECEP, and ECE exams I should take to complete the Liberal Studies upper level (and other UL/LL area of study) requirements

Thanks!

Intro to World Religion, Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union, Substance Abuse, Organizational Behavior, Money and Banking, Intro to the Middle East, and History of Vietnam are all upper level options. I thought World Religions and Substance abuse were probably the easiest on this list, but you should choose what interests you or what you're good at. I can't really talk about the ECEs, since I didn't take any of those, but they're definitely viable options that hopefully more experienced testers than I can speak on.

Also, for lower level, be sure to take advantage of as many six-credit tests as you can.

Good luck!

Great, thanks for the info!

Waiting for the TESC evaluation to get done definitely requires some patience.

It appears they have all my transcripts, but haven't gone through them yet.

It's been about two weeks since they got them.

Well, I've waited all these years to finally get around to finishing a bachelors degree... a couple more weeks won't matter.

You might need English Comp II but you have potential writing credit in humanities, I still think they'll ask for comp specifically (CLEP option is cheapest)

If you are short on general education credit, you can pluck off some EASY credits using ALEKS (intermediate algebra, college algebra and precal) and the CLEP College Math. TESC allows you to go back into lower levels and back fill, so these would give you 18 lower level math credits in a flash, and cheap. If ANYTHING else in your gen eds gets assigned a 300/400 to it, I'd do this ASAP so you can better utilize your upper levels. Never waste them in gen eds)

Sit tight and post what you hear from TESC. The most interesting thing in your eval is finding out what gets classified as UL/LL. You have a lot of credit, I wouldn't start testing just yet.[/COLOR]

Thanks for having a look and providing some insight...

Sitting tight waiting on the TESC eval is the hardest part, especially since it seems I am very close to being done!

I'm excited about getting things underway so I can finish soon -

Thanks again!
