TESC Approve Straighterline Courses?

Question... can TESC approve/plan StraighterLine courses into the degree plan? Or can they only do it once the have the official transcripts from StraighterLine have been received?

I requested that a SL course be planned into my degree, but my adviser said it cannot be done till they receive the credit recommendations from ACE... I thought SL has a partnership with TESC, so I was assuming the advisers should know... :confused:

this partner page should help. On the left side you can see all of the equivalences they've set up so you can choose the right courses. As to whether or not they'll approve/plan, I thought they quit doing that for SL but maybe someone else can chime in. Thomas Edison State College | StraighterLine

This isn't always the case. I got all of my ACE courses from Straighterline, TEEX, NFA, and Penn Foster and all of my NCCRS courses from Saylor approved and already on my degree plan. This was just a few weeks ago.

I don't know why they could be approved for some people and others would be told they have to wait. Maybe it depends on the type of degree program, or maybe it just depends on who you talk to?

I'm dealing with the business school (Patricia Certo) and have been told that they couldn't be planned.

I'm also in the business school. I had submitted a Help Desk Ticket to the BSBA Advising listing every single course not yet on my Evaluation that I either had taken or am planning to take. They covered ALL of the remaining requirements for my entire degree. Three or four business days later, everything was on my degree plan, and I got an email from Doris Simmons saying that the courses had been approved and added.

What's interesting is that Patricia Certo, the senior academic program advisor for the business school, planned biology Uexcels for the ASNSM. When I wanted to get equivalencies for the Javaonline.org courses because I'm considering the CIS certificate, which falls under the business school, I got this message a couple of days ago.

The Advising office does not approve courses prior to the NCCRS recommendations. When you submit the official transcript, the Registrar's office will review and assign appropriate equivalencies. At this point, we can determine if the credits apply to your degree program.

I don't know what I clarified because I'm still confused. LOL. If they are planning ACE courses that you haven't taken yet, then how come they aren't planning them for Laughter? For the Javaonline.org courses, the excuse can be that they haven't been evaluated yet, but SL courses already have equivalencies. I think it was last year that they started telling people that they aren't going to plan Penn Foster and other ACE credits, but aren't Uexcels considered ACE credits? I just had those planned. They are being inconsistent.

I am getting the impression that if you ask three people at TESC the same question you are likely to get three different answers. It was the same with Excelsior.
