TESC Accounting Elective
#11

The only UL accounting course I'm aware of that doesn't require a proctor is Straighterline's Managerial accounting... I know it transfers to TESC as cost accounting, but not sure about other schools. I'm also taking a fraud auditing/forensic accounting OL course through LSU which is a series of assignments which are pretty simple. However, it does require a proctor for the midterm and final exam...

I'm making assumptions based purely upon browsing various schools, but it seems the requirement for proctors is based upon the regional accreditation zone a school happens to fall within. The schools I've glanced at that are based in the North and Northeast do not seem to require proctors as often as those in the South and East. My husband obtained his AS from Baker College out of Michigan, and while I would not recommend them based upon their cost (they're on the quarter-hour system and their pricing is ridiculous compared to almost everywhere else when you take it all into account) but he did not take a single proctored exam for all his courses and has an RA degree. Others that I've come across but am not remembering off the top of my head were hit or miss on proctoring needs, but of those I found that did not require them, most were based in the NE. I assumed it was a factor of their accrediting agency not yet forcing that point.

I'd suggest refining course search to those out of the NE if a main goal is avoiding proctored exams.

My other Accounting Electives are an Auditing course and a Straighterline Managerial Accounting course. Does anyone have any guidance as to what I can use as my final Accounting elective?

Also, I don't have any experience with Straighterline, so any guidance there would be helpful as well.

Thanks!!!

I stumbled across Missouri Southern State University when searching for a specific Human Resources course. They're of no help for me, but they are RA, their business school is ACBSP, and their pricing is decent for harder to find courses (though not so much for more generic courses). Here's the discussion thread where I asked about them: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...rsity.html Merlin linked their Spring 2012 schedule and provided their updated pricing. A quick glance in their Spring catalog lists the following Accounting courses available in internet form:
ACC201 Principles Financial Accounting
ACC202 Principles Managerial Accounting
ACC322 Intermediate Financial & Capital Accounting
ACC385 Cost Accounting
ACC408 Tax Accounting II
ACC411 Auditing
ACC431 Forensic & Investigative Accounting
and if you're in the area for occasional classroom visits, ACC498 Accounting Law for a hybrid course.

Thanks for the input! I'm actually using LSU's Fraud Auditing and Forensic Accounting as my final accounting elective am am very pleased with it so far. Their distance learning classes total $403 for the course (which is great!!!) and you have 9 months to complete with no set deadlines. The only thing is you can only complete three assignments in a 7 day span, so for my course there are 14 assignments along with a midterm and a final. I'm almost to the point of being able to do my midterm, so am interested to see the time frame from when my 7th assignment is submitted to when my proctor receives my test, but we'll see! I'm hoping to finish this course by the end of the year along with the remainder of the requirements for my BSBA in Accounting from TESC, so hopefully the tests will be sent out quickly!

Help!!! I'm trying to finish my degree by the end of the year (to meet TESC's January 1st deadline) and I just received my grade for an Auditing course I took and unfortunately it does not meet the GPA requirement for a course in my specialization Sad Now I need 3 more credits in my "Accounting Electives" section of my academic evaluation. My other 3 courses will be:

ACC-421... Federal Income Taxation.. (3.00)-TESC GS(finishing 11/19)
ACCT4235 Fraud Auditing/ Forensic (3.00)-LSU (finishing by 12/31)
SL0033 Managerial Accounting.... (3.00)-Straighterline

Does anyone have any suggestions for my LAST accounting elective course that I can finish by the end of the year??

I appreciate any and all feedback

Thanks!!!!

~Rachel
