Am I right in thinking that the TEEX computer courses will not qualify as gen eds?

Yes, CIS-299 & CIS-344 will for 4CR; MAN-299 can be used either business or free electives.

I can't find the post, but I read that the TEEX courses cannot be used as gen ed because they don't count as a natural science. TESC's "what-if" evaluations have been a little off lately, but when I do a what-if for the natural science/mathematics degree, my TEEX courses aren't put in the area of study. I have plenty of space for them to go there. I don't know if they will still count as intellectual and practical skills. I have space there, but my TEEX courses aren't being used to fulfill it. However, this could be a glitch because I have other courses that can go there for sure. It's best to just send an email if you can't get a definitive answer here.

I found this post from last year.

I would create a helpdesk ticket and ask TESC. That post was from March 2013, we all know things change. Especially since security and ethics are part of the COS-101, CIS-107 and CIS-301 courses.

These TEEX courses showed up in my Free Electives section on my June/July 2014 evaluation, which was already filled.
I was hoping they'd show in my GenEd area too, should this be challenged?

I would definitely challenge and if necessary appeal to general education committee.

Do I simply send an email to academic advising with the ACE course outline?
I did this with the KAPLAN PLA course and the reply I got said that would go into Free Electives too, I was wondering if I should challenge that at the same time??

Sorry I cannot offer an opinion as I know nothing about Kaplan PLA's but the TEEX CIS courses have a mixture of computer architecture, networking protocols, security, ethics, forensics, etc. Both hold subjects built into courses CIS107 CIS301, CMP354, COS101, COS330.

I've managed to "at last" email TESC academic advising about these TEEX courses being moved to the GenEd area ..... just waiting on a reply ![Smile Smile](https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/images/smilies/smile.png)
They're normally super speedy when replying usually, so I'm taking the delay in reply as a good thing
