Most of the time for CBE studying, you can go with earlier editions for much, MUCH less cash and get the same score on the exams. If it were for full courses, that might be problematic since questions - of which homework is often based - differ from edition to edition, but to study for CBEs? One or two editions down will generally be just fine, and will often save you a few hundred $$. For the Uexcel exams I took, I bought two editions down for $5 plus shipping off Amazon (used tab) and passed with a cozy margin (A). The same goes for the TESC ePack course I took; ePacks are a fluffy version of CBE.

Thanks Bricabrac and mrs.b
I ended up purchasing a couple texts that were one to two editions lower than the most recent editions. We'll see how it goes

Here are some free online textbooks, might be helpful. I didn't check for exact editions/titles.

Thanks Cookderosa,
I downloaded the computer networking pdf from your link as the reviews for both editions of the recommended text for network technology are horrendous. I'm sure this will be a nice companion.
