TECEP English Composition II
#1
I just looked at my academic evaluation online and the TECEP in English composition II, which I took on January 20th was just posted as credit. Yippy, I passed!!!Big Grin

I thought I would post here and let anyone considering this test know what it involves. Since I have received so much help and information from other posters experiences.

The test was not terribly difficult if you have experience writing research papers and are comfortable with citing sources. For this exam, you are given four hours to write a research paper and are allowed to bring a dictionary and a writer’s reference manual. You are given a choice between two topics and a packet of information with the sources for both topics.
The packet also includes the directions for the test, and the specific topic that they want discussed. When I scheduled the test, the person I talked to at the testing office said that this was the most important part of this exam, and that most people that did not pass the exam failed to incorporate the topic into their thesis statement.

You can choose either the MLA or APA style of citing the sources. I choose APA since that is what I have the most experience with, and I included a cover page with running head, a bibliography but did not do an abstract. My essay was only about 650 words, which included just the standard thesis statement and five paragraph essay, with sources cited, and that was apparently enough since I received credit for the test.

I choose the TECEP rather than the CLEP w/essay, because I am a VA Voc Rehab student and all my course work is paid for by the VA, so cost was not an issue; and I am a TESC enrolled student, so I figured it would be graded and added to my evaluation more quickly if I went this route. If I would have had to pay for the test, I definitely would have chosen the CLEP. I have heard of lots of people failing TECEPs so I was nervous about taking the test, but as it turns out, it was not a terrible experience.

If anyone has any questions about this exam, let me know I and I will do my best to answer them.

Cheers
