I am still slogging through this course. It is seriously a chore. The lab is okay. Any advice or tips that can make this go less....painfully ? Just to give an example, I've had this class going for close to 2 months at least, and I've finished 4 or 5 other courses in the meantime as a distraction. I'm trying to finish up a few that meet UMPI's requirements for probable future needs. I thought** I saw that meteorology would replace this class so jumped on that for a bit, but then got shot down reading that it is likely a mistake and won't replace BIO L . I think this is more painful than taking Sophia Eng I and II and waiting for grading.

What are you having issues with? Have you tried Chemistry 111L to see if that is more your style? I think that'd be another lab fee, but it might be worth it if it's faster/easier for you.
Remember: you only need 210 out of 300 points to pass. 100 from the lab. 100 from the quizzes. 100 from the final exam. If you get 100 in the lab and 100 in the quizzes, you can completely fail the final exam and still pass.

I am just geared toward doing my best.....Already dreading the final and I'm only partially through the course portion. I just need to muster up more determination I suppose.

Forgot the first question: Interest, that's the problem. I really do not find science via academic learning channels interesting. I love science when it is learned out in the world. It's always been a real block for me.

My strategy with Study.com courses is to only take the quizzes, ensuring I get 100% within 3 tries as quickly as possible, then take the exam while the content is fresh in my mind. It's difficult to get less than 50% on the exam this way (my lowest score is 80, when I expected 50). If you score well on the exam, then you only need a low score on the assignment, but even if you bomb the exam, then you know how hard you need to work on the assignment.

I get wanting to do your very best, I really do. But nobody is going to care, or even know, what your final score is. It'll be a CR on the transcript and that's it. Don't kill yourself to get the equivalent of an A for a pass/fail class. It's not worth it!

You just need to pass the course. You won't get a letter or numeric grade on your UMPI transcripts.

Yeah, I know. Just hardwired this way. I followed Rachel's advice and did the practice test. I've got something like 94 more quizzes and most labs left to do and I scored about 50% on the practice , while being distracted by phone calls and such at work. I think it'll be okay....it's just forcing myself to do it and not stick the fork in my eye.....LOL Thanks for the advice and reminder....a pass is a pass.

I get it. Science is not my thing. I had to take a lab science for my associate degree years ago. Thank god for geology! That was the only science I was remotely interested in and knew I could pass. I always worried I would need more science classes. Thankfully Human Biology and Environmental Science from Sophia came along and eased my mind.
