It is always different. I would run through them until I felt that I knew most of the stuff on them. But depending how much you already know on the subject you might not have to study that long.

If I work hard (as in only stopping to eat and sleep and a few short breaks) I was able to prepare for some fairly hard DANTES exams in 2 days. Of course, that's kind of crazy, so I don't necessarily recommend it.

For me, I would say spending about 3 hours a day for a week was more than enough. It varies for each person though, so that may or may not work for you.

When I was consistently averaging 90% on each section, I would go take the test. Of course, check out the exam specific threads as well. They're a great help.
