I know when I was looking for information on this class I would only find info on English composition 1. This is my contribution to the board. I just completed the class and honestly I did enjoy myself. Felt I had to retrain myself to think analytically since its been about 10 years since I took these type of classes in college. There is a lot of writing 7 papers in total but the majority only have to be 2 pages double spaced so it really is not to bad. They also provide sample essays which would give me a better idea on what direction to take my paper. I paid for the basic $49 version. The other one they do offer is with Sarah Tidwell for $99. Even though I did not pay to have as my teacher she did review some of my papers. She is a very delightful person. She would provide positive feedback such as "you have a great foundations you just need to build more on...". From the other reviewer I had a feeling there was attitude behind her comments.
There are short quizzes on frankenstein and english literature concepts that the slides go over the english literature stuff. The 5 assignments that I submitted for rough draft review took less then 24 hrs to get reviewed. The latest would be end of day and that literally can be end of day I submitted at 12 noon and it'd be reviewed by midnight. To get it reviewed for a grade it'll take the same amount of time as the rough draft unless if the anti plagiarism software turn-it-in flags it for something. One of my papers was flagged it claimed my first sentence was from some website I haven't heard of academon.com. The reality is my girlfriend inspired me with an idea and I just formulated it into a sentence. I suppose with a common topic such as Frankenstein its only logical that some ideas sound similar. They emailed me to notify me with what it found and they told me precisely where in the paper it had suspect qualities. I corrected those and submitted it a 2nd time.
I tried to actually read the frankenstein book I felt Robert Walton was a bit of a cry baby and couldn't tolerate his letters for any longer. "I longed for a companion to share my passion with on this voyage", he continued for 3 letters whining about it. I finished the book by reading the detailed cliff notes I found on a website. Find one that has side notes on different themes to give you a better understanding on the literature.
All in all it was a great course actually better then the one from TESC. I tried to take it but the whole class was working on a research paper step by step I hate writing like that. The straighterline course reminded me when I took EC2 in college as we went over the same concepts. I should've passed that time wrote A and B graded papers but got a D since points were deducted from all the classes I've missed. Tesc wouldn't accept it as transfer since its under a required section the min grade for transfer is C. Thank god for Straighterline for getting me over this hurdle that has been holding me back for quite some time. I'm in fly through mode have 8 classes to complete from them before the 2nd week of june to enroll in TESC before the july deadline.
Thanks for taking the time to read.
