Jesus, man, you aren't lying. I remember I got the call that I had been accepted into their creative writing BA at 7pm CST, which means they were still in the office working at 8pm EST. That's nuts. They work and fight for every student they have.
My main problem was that the enrollment team seemed way too similar to how it sounds like they are at UMPI. They were paid 3rd party people, I believe, so they knew nothing about what they were promising. Hell, even the registrar had to admit their stupid rule (in 2011) about only accepting 5 courses or 15 hours of CBE/ACE/Whatever wasn't listed anywhere in the handbook. I was reading about all the awesome things people were doing on this forum and thought I'd found a way to do the same thing with a BA in English and Creative Writing Fiction. Yeah, fat chance.
That messed me up so bad. I did the dumb thing and kept enrolling in terms while I was appealing their unlisted rule. I was so demoralized and the courses were so short that I failed two terms worth of courses. I couldn't let it go, but I couldn't see the point in continuing if I couldn't test out of stuff and had to take their BS LL courses. I stupidly thought they would stop listening to me if I withdrew and wasn't a student anymore. I thought that since the rule wasn't listed anywhere visible to students that I could fight it and win. Absolutely stupid, I know. Big, expensive lesson learned.
Point being, if admissions and enrollment wouldn't have assured me that I could test out of 90 credits then I would not have enrolled. I'm glad their policy on ACE and credit by exam changed eventually, but that didn't help me at all at the time. Moral of the story: they are all salesman, regardless of the school, so always make sure you find out for sure from the registrar if your plan will work. Not admissions, not enrollment counselors, not your adviser. The registrar.
Sorry for the rant, but I'm still super pissed about that situation and how it was handled. Makes me want to throat punch someone when they send me little love notes like they didn't try their hardest to drive me nuts.
Alright. I feel a little better now. Still really antsy about my COSC evaluation and Capstone and I'm taking it out on SNHU. Lol, sorry.
