I am not yet enrolled to EC and was thinking about using some SL courses. Do I need to to be enrolled in EC to have the course put on my transcript? I have an account at EC for my ECEs but wasn't sure if I should enroll before I finish my courses at SL. I know I can add them to ACE but they charge for each course transcript that you keep with them when they are obtained by the school. Am I correct about that? I have contacted EC but they will not tell me anything until I fill out the application for enrollment and send in the $$.
Also does anyone know if EC accepts the new SL course Intro to Sociology?
BTW,I wish SL had Info. Lit!!!! Just wanted to add that in there!

I can answer a few of these questions.
Someone else may better answer whether EC will but your SL on their transcript without being enrolled, I can help answer about ACE.
First, it is a $40 membership fee for ACE. and then a fee to send the transcript, but it's not for EACH class, it's one for all classes. You can wait until you're done with all SL courses, and have it sent to ACE. That is what I'm doing with the new courses (finished 2 last weekend). I'm taking 2 UExcel tests this week, if they don't go so well I'll sign up for 2 more SL courses and then once I'm done with that send my new ACE transcript with my NFA and new SL courses (all just sitting tight on the transcript as we speak).
Additionally, EC will take ANY ACE course for credit.
For Info. Lit. Look into Penn Foster I took it at EC and heard about PF afterwards. Granted, you will need to sign up for a 3u course as well with them, but if you're enrolled in a business degree @ EC their Financial Management course is definitely easy, and will fulfill a requirement.

You don't need to apply to Excelsior yet.
What you need to do is register for your SL classes finish them and have them sent to ACE.
They will set up the ACE account for you and give you your user name that wlll start with SLXXXX, once you do that you can go ahead and pay the 40 bucks, that will give you one free transcript you can send to Excelsior when you are ready to enroll.
And yes EC will take all of your SL classes with a few exceptions that duplicate:
Managerial Accounting and Accounting II
Pre-Calculus and College Algebra
I hope this helps

Managerial Accounting and Accounting II actually are not duplicates, just mis-named on the Straighterline website.
Managerial Accounting = Cost Accounting - listed as LL on Straighterline/ACE webiste, but accepted as UL at EC (confirmed)
Accounting II = Managerial Accounting = Lower Level.
Those getting a business degree can use the Cost Accounting course to satisfy one of the UL Business Electives needed.

What you say is strange.
I have SL Accounting II, transcripted via FHSU as Managerial Accounting, however I was told by my advisor that SL Managerial Accounting would duplicate the FHSU class.

You may want to take the ACE credit translation and show it with a Cost Accounting course syllabus and description. Take a look at the Course Objectives for the SL course as well. Besides "Managerial accounting" in the first sentence, they only discuss "Cost" throughout the rest of the objectives. What is strange is if SL had 2 Managerial Courses, both LL. When this course first came out I asked my EC advisor whether it would satifsy the Cost Accounting course, and using the course description compared it to a Cost Accounting course. They said they will satisfy it as a UL Course.
It was way more difficult than the other SL courses I took, and unfortunately wasn't able to get the score I desired.
I also have Accounting 2 transcribed from FHSU, and heard no issues from EC when I asked about SL's Managerial Accounting, since they checked more than just the course title and looked into the course description and syllabus.
If you're not as successful than I am sorry, but my understanding from Excelsior is that this is a Cost Accounting course and will be accepted as such.

Well I contacted Excelsior and the advisor confirmed Managerial Accounting from SL would be counted as Cost accounting however only as lower level. It is however useful for students going for an Accounting concentration since it would be part of the core requirements.
