Straighterline letter grade on transcript
#1
I plan to enroll at TESC to get an AAS and BS degree. I've recently completed two Straighterline courses with "A" grades and would like to know the best way to get these grades on a college transcript without actually attending another college, if this is possible? Can I transfer the grades to a school that will issue letter grades and then immediately transfer that transcript to TESC or will I need to attend some classes at said school first? Thanks.

You can pay the $75 registration fee with TESC and then you can get them on your unofficial TESC transcript. However, TESC will not give you an official letter grade for the class and it will not count towards your TESC GPA. The TESC GPA only calculates class you actually take with TESC. Also, There is no way to "launder" Straighterline classes, you can only transfer them directly through ACE or to a partner school.

No, only colleges where you are/have been a student will give you a transcript. In addition, you won't get the grades on a TESC transcript even when you become a student, you'll get credits.

Nope to all of that.

I don't think nobody checks grades when you go looking for a job. I think if I were the guy hiring, and someone came to me and said "I have a degree and I had a 98.5 GPA", I would not hire them for being smartie pants. Besides that, there is book smart and there is "real world" type workers. Not to knock down smart people or anything but I wouldn't get too hung on the grades aspect. In time, you'll forget how those formulas went.

Yeah, I heard employers really don't check for transcripts unless your applying to a top 500 fortune company or a job that may require a license.

I was looking at a job this week that required a masters with a min of a 2.5 gpa, but that is the first time I have seen a gpa listed.

The Airframe and Powerplant license is not issued to you by the FAA based on grades you got. It is issued based on either a PASS or a FAIL. (Gotta be greater than a 70 percent I believe it was.) Also, nobody ever asked me for my transcripts for a job. Nor to see the degree. Not to say they won't always. I've worked for TWO fortune 500 jobs that I can think of. One of them is currently.

Most of the time that is listed, and you come in for the interview, I bet they don't even ask for it, but if it is listed, I wouldn't go in there without a capablity of backing it up. Maybe when applying for certain positions in the high level, and competition is stiff, they may want to see at least your masters degree. They may check out the GPA's for the ones right out of college. My GPA overall kind of hovers at around a low to mid "C". Most of my grades have been "C"'s. Deal is, when I was attending full time way way way way back in the day, I was a young whipper snapper and had difficulties keeping focused on subjects and had too much on my plate in studies. I didn't put in the time. I had other things to do. Now, the difference is, I would only take one course at a time taking my time, and getting a better grade.
In my aviation mx school my GPA was a 91.8 upon finishing the program. I'm more of a natural trade kind of person too. I took more interest in it and far more enjoyed it than college. And some of the material was way tougher in A&P school but I put the time in it because it was more interesting to me. And NOBODY ever asked to see those grades in airline work or anywhere in aviation.

There's no relationship with GPA and bringing value to a company at all. the more i go through this textbooks the further I feel from actually learning anything that makes you money. I'm taking a course through NMJC on marketing and this textbook is a whole bunch of crap. I would learn more in 3-5 days from reading "Scientific Advertising" by Claude Hopkins, and a few books from Jay Abraham than going through this huge mess of words for 8 weeks.

All a good GPA means is that you put the time in the books, and retained information enough to take and pass your test with flying colors. Take that same test in 20 years and see how much of that you actually retained. Retention has to do with the individual. Some have photographic memories, and take much less time to grasp information.

I think college is mostly designed that way. How much of what you actually learn do you or will you ever apply in the real world? I don't know what employers look for. My guess is that they probably figure that college is at least a standard in taking on recruits. They know that the college kids put in the time and learned the material, therefore, they must be more serious about their business. I'm not so sure that they really care much about course material. They usually train you their way. They know you know how to sit and take test, study for them, cram for them, and do what you gotta do to pass, therefore, in their work enviroment, they figure you will do the same versus someone with no education nor ambition, nor money or whatever.

Think of that obstacle of the loaded bull crap studies you are learning nothing about as a crucibal you must endure in order to gain the respect.
