Failed Network Technology TECEP
#11
TrailRunr Wrote:Why not retake the network TECEP? You've seen the exam. You know you have to memorize the OSI model as part of the studying. Neither option counts towards residency. And the CSU-G exam costs a lot more money. I don't think this exam is particularly hard as long as you either study or have previous IT experience. I think a cram book suggested above is sufficient. If you can pass sys analysis at CSU-G with studying, I know you can pass this one and save yourself some money.

I had the OSI model memorized. CSU has good study materials that are quicker to go over than a 300-page book. If you remember, I didn't spend a lot of time studying for the CSU Global CBE, and it was an easy exam. I spent more time studying for the Network Technology TECEP; I just didn't have time to read the recommended textbook from cover to cover.

What I remember from my attempt with the CSU-G sys analysis exam earlier this year is that the CSU online material was not sufficient to pass the exam. Some of the online material wasn't very helpful or too slow like the videos. It was necessary for me to buy an older edition of the recommended textbook and cram it the day before at a rate of one chapter per hour. I guess you had previous MIS knowledge, which would be helpful.

I'm all for whichever test seems to be the path of least resistance to you and hopefully the least amount of money.

I only read the chapter summaries for the Systems Analysis and Design textbook. Anything business-oriented is more intuitive for me.

I just took networking tecep last night. I didn't study or review or anything. I relied on my comptia net+ and CCNA knowledge. Hopefully that was enough to earn me a pass, but there were several oddly worded questions and there were several questions from absolutely nowhere. ZIGBEE? The 3 layer network model? I even thought the question about tcp/ip model layers was out there. I really hate short answers also, like, what do they want? Does it behoove me to type a Frick load of random information? That's what I did. Also, I've never heard of pervasive networking. 4 classes left to go!
End goal is to get a cheap bachelor degree {CIS} that transfers to online master's degree at ncsu. I'm thinking statistics because less prerequisites. Vs computer science.

Started in January 2016 after NC prevented enrollment in WGU.
Clep, Dsst: Statistics, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, World religions, Intro to Computers, American Government, Sociology, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, Prin finance.
Straighterline: C++, Intro Comm, Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Business law, Managerial Acct, Business ethics, Into business, Organizational behavior,
CSU Global: Basic programming COS-208, Systems Analysis and Design.
TECEP: Network Technology, Strategic Management, business in society.
Saylor: Bus210 for Bus311 credit

denied enrollment to WGU October 2015 b/c NC sucks.
Prep for WGU: A+, NET+, Project+, Security+, CCENT, OCA java.

i guess I'm sort of hijacking this thread as a networking tecep thread because there isn't one already.
i passed with a 79 exactly 1 week grade time. study materials could be professor messers net+ youtube videos.
