Can anyone explain the grading system SL uses? I've read on here some people calculate their score so they know exactly what % they need on the final. Is it at simple as finding the average? All scores combined divided by number of exams? Or do the points(range) SL assigns to each exam factor in somehow?
My scores so far on Anthropology:
Quiz 1: 80
Quiz 2: 92
Midterm: 90
Quiz 3: 92
Quiz 4: 84
Final: n/a
*The average of those score is 87.6, but SL says my grade/percentage is 66.00%. Even if I add a 0 for the final and divide by all 6 exams the average is still 73.
I'm missing some simple part of the equation but I can't figure it out..
Anyone have any idea about the grading procedure at SL..??

It's based on cummalative points and percentage of course completed. Go to the grades section, there are 2 columns. Left is your total points, right side is percentage grade per exam. For example if your grade/percent is 66%, or 660 points, then you only need 40 points to earn 700 points, a "C", or 70% for the class. The final is 250 points, I don't know the point value of each question, but assuming each question is worth 5 points and there are 50 questions then you need to get 8 question right to earn a 70%, 28 questions right to earn a 80% and 48 questions right to earn a 90%.
Good luck.

Thank you koenigtv, that makes sense.
One last question, I thought I read something about a 3 day minimum to schedule a final, any sooner and you are charged a fee...can anyone confirm or deny that? I don't see that rule on SL website.

Yes that is true. If you schedule with less than 3 days notice Proctor U will charge $5 payable by credit card within 1 hour after you schedule your exam. If you don't pay within the hour, your exam will be cancelled.
If you do schedule with less than 3 days and pay the $5, you can reschedule the exam for any day with no additional charges. I've noticed that if you call and schedule the exam SOMETIMES they won't charge you $5. Depends on the customer service rep - no guarantee.

Thanks again, before I could wait for an answer I signed up for the final. Cost me an extra 8 dollars but the exam is done and I don't have to worry anymore.
Finished Anthropology with an 83%...feels good.

Just FYI, I'm considering taking the Straighterline Intro to Religion and Cultural Anthropology courses. Does anyone on this thread have experience with ebooks for either of these? Are they .PDFs? If not, is a special app required for them and are they searchable? Many thanks.
