Hey all,
I was hoping for some insight? I am working on my degree plan and was figuring out my UL classes.
According to the equivalency page on the Straighterline site. There are a few classes that say they transfer as 300+ level classes.
For Example:
Organizational Business BUS-120 = MAN-311 @ TESU
Managerial Accounting BUS-120 = ACC-303 @ TESU
Principals of Management BUS-201 = MAN-301 @ TESU
Thomas Edison State University Course Equivalency Guide | StraighterLine
I was wondering if there is experience of these classes satisfying my UL requirements?
I am pursuing my BSBA at TESU so any other UL options would be appreciated.
thanks

I used the SL Principals of Management and it did transfer as MAN 301, I used it in the Professional Business Requirements section of BSBA in General Management. The BUS 120 is Organizational Behavior and is correct also in transferring. I do not have experience with the accounting one.
What specific degree are you working on?
TESU BSBA General Mgmt 6/10/16
TESU: TECEP Public Relations Thought & Practice - 82
Penn Foster: Financial Mgmt 94, International Business 97, Strategic Mgmt 98, Corporate Finance 99, Consumer Behavior 95, Human Resource Mgmt 99
Saylor: Business Law & Ethics 82, Corporate Communication 76, Principles of Marketing 72
Sophia: Intro to Sociology 90, Conflict Resolution 87, Project Mgmt 88
Straighterline: Principles of Mgmt 94, Organizational Behavior 88, American Government 92
The Institutes: Ethics and the CPU Code of Professional Conduct (free 2 CR)
COSC - Associate of Science Honors General Studies 2014
COSC - Cornerstone - A
Straighterline: Into to Religions A, Business Ethics B, West. Civ. I B, Intro to Env. Science B
CLEP: A&I Literature - 69

Thanks for the insight!
I am working on my BSBA - General Management....like you :-)
I am finding i can crank thru the SL classes pretty well so i was hoping i would be able to satisfy those UL with some of the classes i already completed (i.e. Principals of Management). So is it a safe assumption that anything that transfers with a 300 level will be accepted as UL?
I was thinking of doing (Organizational Business BUS-120 = MAN-311 @ TESU and and Managerial Accounting BUS-120 = ACC-303 @ TESU) If they translate as UL....my ULs should be satisfied at that point? I think?
thx

If it's Organizational Behavior you're referring to and Managerial Accounting, that's only 2 courses, you need more than that to have your upper level credits covered in the AOS. The cheapest would be their own TECEPS at $114 each. Since you're taking or going to be taking courses, you might check out other providers such as Penn Foster as long as it's still ACE Recommended. http://degreeforum.wikia.com/wiki/Unoffi...te_College
This is what I see from your previous posts... http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...-help.html
Another option is to do a Portfolio on your studies from Saylor non credit courses, $379 for 12 credits!
See here for some courses listed as upper level on the Saylor page under ASBA free electives in degree map.
http://www.saylor.org/tesc-open/#degree-map
Several upper level courses in management can be found on TESU website, only provider missing is Penn Foster.

Yes, those courses count as UL at TESU, but for some it doesn't matter. They only require 12cr of UL courses in your Area of Study, so that's where it matters. Principles of Management is UL, but it's in the Core Requirements, so it won't count toward the required UL courses you need.
Additional courses you can take for UL credit in General Management AOS:
MIS, HRM, Money & Banking DSST's
Many TECEP's
Many CSU-Global courses
ACE-approved Penn Foster courses (Compensation Management, Corporate Finance, Employee Benefits, Retail Management, Training Concepts)
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers DSST Computers, Pers Fin CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats Ed4Credit Acct 2 PF Fin Mgmt ALEKS Int & Coll Alg Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics Kaplan PLA

thanks for the ideas bjcheung77....some of my transfer courses were counted as UL by the admissions advisor so I think I just need a few more.

I was looking at Saylor that you mentioned? Is that similar to Straighterline? I take the tests and then a proctored final? Or if I am comfortable with the material, I just study and take the final to pass the class?
It also said they can do the Proctoring remote. For example, I am able to goto my Library or something for them to proctor?
They are really freekin affordable for credits....Just curious of your experience with them.
thanks again

for Saylor, ONLY the proctored final counts.
Take the practice test, if you do well there, go for the $25 final, proctored exam -- that exam is what counts for credits. The proctored exams are done at home with your webcam.
If you don't know the material/don't do well on the practice exam, try a different route. Users of the forum here seem to unanimously agree that the Saylor courses themselves are time-draining overkills that don't prepare you for the exams.

Courses at Saylor Academy require proctoring by ProctorU and its 3 credits, $25/exam.
It can be at home or somewhere quiet as long as there is an Internet connection that's stable.
Theses courses are only graded by exam. Think of it as a cheaper version of a CLEP or DSST.
You study with the materials they give you, and/or other resources and just go for the final.
Straighterline is different, but easier as you are graded by open book coursework/tests, midterm, and a proctored final.
They use the same provider for proctoring, ProctorU. People like Straighterline over the endless reading materials provided by Saylor academy. But if you like less homework and test well, Saylor is the ticket.
