Straighterline, Saylor, Study.com, CLEP - which are easier, quicker? (for TESU)
#1
I have a TESU BA Psychology plan someone was kind enough to share with me with choices but no opinions on which provide a quicker path to building credits.

I have even seen TEEX stuff but I've gone on their site and it's not remotely intuitive on how to sign up for a class.

Feels like I'm missing something to get me started.

The steps aren't clear to me. Like I said, I signed up on the ACE site - but not even sure why or what I'm supposed to do from that site?

Ahhh! I cannot figure this out which is frightening unto itself.

Step 1 would be to read the Wiki.

Step 1.25 is to apply to TESU

Step 1.5 is to send any and all college transcripts to TESU for evaluation (25 business day lead time). Don't forget about things like professional certificates (for instance my FAA certificates got me ~20SH of elective credits, my military schools got me another 20 or so)

Step 2 is to decide if you want to take courses (SL, Study) or take tests (TECEP, CLEP)

Step 3 is to figure out what classes or tests you need, how much they're going to cost and how long till you can get them done. Lots of info on here about what courses transfer into what parts of the degree

Step 4 is to get to work. One class seems insignificant but eventually they multiply and before you know it, you're closer and closer to being done.

At some point after you finish the courses, you can request credit from some of the above providers in ACE. When you get enough to want to see how it goes, send the transcript to TESU for eval.

I'm also working on my BA Psych with TESU.

But I don't NEED to apply to TESU before taking a SL course, right? I say this because it's unlikely I'll finish this year and don't want a problem with TESU, plus I just signed up for a Sociology class via SL.

Incidentally, is there a timeframe for completing a course with SL or is it at your own pace?

Aren't there ongoing costs to enrolling in TESU prematurely? When I've got less than a year left I will enroll. All my classes are going to cost me less than the piece of paper from TESU.

Correct, many including myself prefer to obtain as many credits prior to registrar with a school. I have found SL courses to be the easiest and many of them transfer over nicely to TESU which is in contrast to COSC. With SL you can even pass the course before you take the final in many instances by passing the quizzes beforehand.

TEEX is not easy to navigate for sign-up but the courses themselves are pretty easy to navigate through. Don't get discouraged on that. It has been a while since I took one of their courses so I can't walk you through it but I think its in the wiki somewhere.

As far as ACE...after you complete each course you go to the ACE website and follow these steps...
1. Login
2. Click on My Courses upper left hand box
3. Click on Add New Course
4. In the box that appears you enter the course information. A drop down box will appear and you click on the course itself. It gets "added" to your ACE transcript pending approval. ACE contacts the course provider and verifies if you passed the course. If you did, it shows up with date completed.
5. When you are ready to get credit from your college you request a transcript from ACE just like you would if you were transferring a transcript from a college. It gets sent to your school and added to your school transcript. You can bank all your courses and add them in all at once or send them over multiple times. It is totally up to you.

As far as what is quickest, fastest for courses- it depends on what material you are already familiar with. Some things may be easier to test out of. I did not take any straighterline courses but have heard that with some of the open book tests you can get through a lot of credits quickly. Study.com took me on average one course a week -some only a few days - it depended on if I was pretty familiar with the material and how much time I had to devote to taking all the quizzes. I have heard of people taking a lot Alek courses in a month and if you are good at math you can assess out of a lot of credits quick. So much depends on what material you are already familiar with and how much time you have to work on this. You may also find a course provider that you just like and you click with how they present the information and it is easy to get through it quickly. I would recommend trying out a few different ones.

No, TESU doesn't have semester/term fees. COSC and EC do.

FYI, ACE is where you would be sending your courses to "bank" or hold onto until you're ready to transfer to TESU
Since you only have a few credits, I wouldn't apply to TESU until I'm almost done, if you were over 90 credits in, that's another story.
Start with your General Education Requirements first OR apply for Study.com Scholarship and work on "AOS" Psych courses first.

Only if you don't finish in the year.

Yeah, I wish I had done this before the residency waiver fee.
