If the intro nutrition course falls under biology, that will ROCK. Fingers crossed it won't be a health/free elective. Also excited about sociolgy for my son.

While the Nutrition course definitely seems to fill a void, the others appear to duplicate CLEP and DSST tests, which, frankly, have to be easier then Straighterline courses. I was hoping they would come out with Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry.

I was wondering if the history CLEP/DSST would be easier,I have never taken a straighterline course. I will have to do American History and Western Civ if I go for the history degree. Do others agree they would be harder? How soon do you think they will have them?

I would definitely CLEP those tests. Straighterline is most useful for courses for which no testing exists, e.g., A&P labs, or if testing is inconvenient because of your location.

EDIT: Physics with Lab is useful, but I'd probably take the UExcel Physics exam if no lab credit is needed. I'll probably take those Physics Lab courses even though I don't need them.

Yes, but for under $100 you can rock out 3 credits (or 4) in a self-paced/open book/ in your own living room format. I see SL as a fantastic adjunct to the CLEP option.

I think biochem and orgo must be around the bend if they get some qualified curriculum developers.

I like what I see. Granted, some Clep and dsst might be easier but this is great for those of us not really interested in learning all the material and rather just getting enough info to get the credits. The more SL offers, the happier I am.

Reply from someone at Straighterline:

They will be available this Fall. This is all an estimate though we are hoping that all of the new courses will be completed by then however, there is a possibility it may be later in the fall or closer to spring.
