Straighterline is very confusing. My pie shows that I am 83% done with my course, but yet when I spoke to a rep she said the final counts for half my grade, then why does my pie chart show that I am 83% done if I haven't even taken the final yet and the final counts for half my grade. Shouldn't the pie chart show me being around or near 50% done with the course... Has anyone else experienced this? I wanted to do a "random click" through the final as I've seen other posters say they've done that because I don't want to sit through a final.

Not sure about a pie. I never used one. It sounds like it takes into account % of assignments instead of weighted grades. For example, the religion course, iirc, had 4 tests worth 125 points each and the final was worth 500. So you can pass all 4 tests and be 80% done with the course but still only have 50% of the points you need to pass.
Since my subscription expired I cannot go into my courses to give exact instructions but where you want to go is the grades section. There it will tell you how many points each test is worth and how many you have obtained. Every course has different weighted values for tests (The macroeconomics tests were only worth like 25? points each while intro to religions were worth over 100). Every course requires 700 points to "pass" and it doesn't matter where the points come from. Some courses even have 700 points available before you even take the final exam and you can instantly submit the final, get 0 points, and pass the course. Hopefully that makes sense. Points are what matters, not % complete on some pie.

What is your class? The syllabus generally shows the grading scale. I completely ignored the pie and calculated my own. I randomly clicked through quite a few finals without issue, but you want to be sure you have already passed.

I am taking the Intro to Statistics course. 5 exams with 20 questions each= 500 points and Final exam with a total of 60 questions= 500 points. The course is worth 1,000 points total and I need 700 points to pass. I currently have 385 points, so I guess that means I'll need 315 points to total 700 for the minimum score of 70% to pass. Are my calculations correct?
I'm TERRIFIED of the final because it's closed book and I can only have 1 sheet of BLANK paper, a calculator and a pencil.

The good news is that if you fail the test you can just pay the $50 again and retake the course. Theres no limit to how many attempts per course.

It's a bummer to pay the $50 again, but at least you can shoot for higher scores on all of the quizzes, and then don't need as high of a grade on the final to pass.

I wouldn't freak out, you need the equivalent of a 63 (in traditional scoring) to pass. If it's multiple choice with four options.....odds are pretty good you'll pass. Retaking the course isn't a big deal at $50 like everyone has said.

Thanks for the information and the encouragement! The intro to stats is actually cheaper than $50, its only $25 and includes proctoring and tutoring

I just hope I don't have to take it again. I want my degree conferred before the end of the year. This is my last class so I need my transcript in by December 16th according to my academic adviser.
